Making a Retirement Talk

Most people have to give a retirement speech once they retire at a get together thrown by friends and coworkers who want to wish them farewell. Most speeches are usually about ten minutes extended and are a nice in order to way to say goodbye to those a person has worked with for a long period. Retirement parties are usually held in hotels, fire halls, and on the actual employers property. These are joyful occasions that are also sad events, specifically if the person was well-known within the company.

Preparing any retirement speech can take some time. There are individuals to thank, words regarding wisdom, and informing stories that are generally funny about organisations and coworkers. It is a good time to chuckle, relax, and enjoy some other peoples company. Giving the actual retirement speech can be extremely sad for some, and incredibly happy for others. Although leaving a job can be upsetting, retirement is a new phase inside a persons life that most individuals look forward to. Writing the retirement speech can come easily or it can be hard. Writing the speech in a quiet place will help a person concentrate. Building a list of everything that a person wants to say is one way to make sure the person claims everything they want to point out.

While retirement celebrations can be fun, the actual retirement speech could make some people feel unfortunate because they are saying good bye to a respected colliege. It is important to make the talk funny and jovial. Retirement speeches need to reflect on time gone by and should not level negative attributes that individuals have. Retirement celebrations are a way for people to assemble together and have fun. Whenever giving a pension speech, it is important to communicate clearly and allow some time for others to express their wishes for ones future. It can be a wonderful method to leave a company.

I’m writing a speech and I want to talk about the whole late night situation going on now in one paragraph. However, before I go into why I’m talking about it, I need to explain it so people who aren’t aware of it can understand. How can you sum it up in a few sentences?
    Thank you!

I was a bigger fan back in the 80’s but I watched Ric Flair give his retirement speech Monday. Regardless of of era, size or titles held who is truely the best ever ? Who combined charisma, technical skill, box office appeal and longevity like no other ? Could Hulk Hogan overpower Georg Hackenschmidt ? How would Kurt Angle make Stanislaus Zbyszko tap out ? Would Stone Cold have been a bigger box office draw than Bruno Sammartino ?

Let me explain. Why are people upset at the packers for trading away favre. I mean the packers are obviously better with him, but its not fair for him to act like he’s going to retire 3 YEARS IN A ROW!!!!! Even cried after this season retirement speech. Packers have make off season plans thinking he’s going to be out of the picture for him to wait until training camp to say he wants to come back. Yes he is a legend/ top 20 QB ever, would be higher but he threw the most interception ever and only won 1 super bowl. But he’s ultra durability, arm strength, love for the game, and great under pressure. In other word he is overrated and if anyone saids he is top 3 or best QB ever is a joke. It mind boggling to me that just because he did great thing in the past and have a out of nowhere good season last year, people thinks he do it again at the same pace…like he’s in he prime(Chris Carter is BF ###kisser on NFL LIVE). But in reality he is getting older I think the packer let him go cause they were sick of him retiring then unretiring and plus u got to think the packer see something special in Aaron Rodger to say good bye to farve. The packers have to see want they have in the future. They are taking a slight gamble only because Favre had 2 average seasons at best b4 last season, so understandably they probably thinking farve is getting older and last year is not going to happen again we need to develop our FUTURE QB cause the only way QB can get better is by playing regular season games not pre-season. The packers have enough pieces around Rodgers so he doest have to carry the team, plus they are in the NFC and there conference is weak except for the viking maybe, so they may still when the division. The packers even with Brett is not enough to win it all so why not develop a young good qb ? The packers are in the right with not letting Brett back. Brett earn and deserves to be taking back the first 2 times but 3 time make u wanna say, “Come on Brett your past your prime , u retired 3 time already, we made plans thinking u weren’t going to be here(drafting 2 QB this year), we have nice young QB that we need to develop, we need to think about the future, stop saying I felt pressured to retire cause thats bs, we loved u here but here’s your trade to the jets. Play games with the jets gm cause frankly were sick of u not the way u play just U”. What do u think?

Farve wont be as good as last season,u know it. Packer didnt even get to the super bowl w/ super farve. What makes u think he will keep up his performance when he is getting older ? Pack wouldnt WIN the superbowl this year even if they have him. So what is the point of keeping Favre and holding ARod back ?
Favre is way more in the wrong than the packers. The packers left the door open for him the two season he didnt know if he was coming back. Favre is the one giving headache the past 3 years now.

“It will save Social Security” Leave it alone, it is not a investment it is a safety net there when your risks fail. And how is a larger worker pool with the lower wages to match going to help the youth? Republicans we don`t want the bad loans you sold Greece and we don`t want the retirement age raised for company profit.

Welcome, everyone, to this very special occasion and a bittersweet occasion it is. It is finally time to retire. I have so much to say, so many people to thank, but not exactly to say, how to fit it all into one short retirement speech eloquence. In the last thirty years of my life, working as a Doctor, I have been able to save thousands of lives. Being able to make a difference, and to take pride on what I accomplished. What will stand out in my heart, and mind as I look back over the last 30 years of working, before becoming a doctor, are the times I spent cleaning toilets, working at restaurants as a kitchen helper, and being a cashier. I want to thank my colleagues: Ryan, Thomas, John and Mike for giving me the opportunity, to collaborate as a team. It is a privilege, and a great honor to be standing in front of everyone. Being a doctor for thirty years, made me understand the ideology in America; that the path of having an honorable and admired life, is to go to college and get a degree. In order to achieve your dreams, hard work is demanded from any major profession. I also want to thank my family and friends, who are a true blessing in my life. They encouraged me to get back up on my feet, and strive for my goals.

it’s for writing class, what else can i add? it needs to be one page long. thanks. grammar usage and more ideas? please.

For me Edge’s because it was unexpected and I wasn’t prepared for it, and I’m a bigger fan of Edge and have seen more of his career than I have seen of Shawn’s.

I have pretty much seen Edge’s entire run as a main eventer in WWE. I started watching WWE in 2006 thats when he won his first WWE championship, so I’ve seen most of his main event run in the WWE.

With HBK I saw nothing of the first part of his career and only half of the second part of his career. I connected with Edge alot more than I did with Shawn Michaels as a fan.

My mom’s retirement dinner is this evening. One of the teachers told me some of the teachers are writing poems and if I wanted to write one. I said okay.. Now its the day of and I feel awkward writing one or saying it in front of 40 people. I’m going to be terribly nervous and I feel that the things I want to say about my mom are sentimental things that would be better said in a card to her. I don’t want everyone to think badly of me though. Not all the teachers are writing poems, just a few. Should I brave up or is it fine for me to say that I’m not comfortable and I would probably be too emotional?

  46. Charles June 21, 2014 at 8:33 am Reply

My first Wrestling Show I saw was at a friend’s house back in 2005. It was New Year’s Revolution. The rest of the card I forget, except the Elimination Chamber Match. Cena winning had my friend going nuts, as like every other 10 year old Cena fan.

Then the music that became so familiar in the next few years to me hit, and the man known as Vincent Kennedy McMahon came out. He said the night was not over, and he said this man was going to use his Money in the Bank Contract tonight (At the time, I did not know what the MITB Was, so my friend explained it to me).

“You Think You Know Me…” – Here comes a man in a long trenchcoat with the long blonde hair with a smoking hot girl. That man was Edge, with Lita. And from the moment he walked out on the stage, I was in love… with Lita. But when Edge came in, cashed in the MITB, and won the title, Edge became my instant favorite, even though at the time he was hated amongst the fans.

6 Years later, it brought a tear to my eye seeing the man that got me into wrestling retire. Yet, I believe this tear was a tear of sadness, and also a tear of Joy.

I was sad to see the 11 time World Champion retire from the ring. He had just an amazing career, almost as amazing as Shawn Michael’s. He put on amazing matches and worked great on the mic. He was not only an entertainer inside the ring, but outside the ring also. After buying “Edge, A Decade of Decadnece”, It took me back to Edge’s best matches, the one that stood out to me the most was that TLC Match at Wrestlemania X-7.

Yet, this match was probrably one of the many causes of Edge’s retirement. Wrestling, as they say, is fake. Well, Edge retirering just goes to show you its not all that show. This is a legitamite sport with legitamite injuries.

Back to the tear and how it brought Joy to me. It brought this joy to me because if Edge did not get tested and went on to compete in the ladder match at X-Treme Rules, we would probrably be talking about his premature death rather than his premature retirement.

Seeing Edge go was sad, but thankfully he was able to walk out of the ring for the last time rather than be carried out on a stretcher.

Edge had been talking about retirement in recent interviews, but I did not think it would be this soon. Edge is 37, and has a good 40 years left in him. Yet, it could have been to late to save him if he had gone through in that ladder match.

So, yes ladies and gentlemen, Edge is seriously retirering from wrestling. But yet, I believe this is not the last time we will see him. Sure, he deserves a break after 19 years on the road. Let him enjoy his time at home with his dogs and girlfriend.

But let me say this, he will be back. Maybe a special entrance in the Royal Rumble? Maybe a commentator on Smackdown or Raw? Or maybe, it was Edge all along who was the mystery General Manager of Raw… we may never know.

Let me say this as a sendoff, Thank you, Edge, for the many memories over the years in the WWE.

BQ: Share your thoughts on Edge’s retirement.

BQ2: If Edge does come back, would you want him to be a commentator or the General Manager of Raw?

BQ3: What year do you believe Edge will be inducted into the HOF?

  47. Rosendo June 21, 2014 at 6:13 pm Reply

I always had the idea that The Undertaker’s retirement would be the biggest and grandest one ever. So I was wondering, how good of a speech can you guys come up with? I want you to take a shot at writing a retirement-themed speech by putting yourself in The Undertaker’s place. It doesn’t have to be a novel of a speech, but just creative and original and Undertaker-ish enough, like something he would possibly say. Best Answer will go to the most fun-to-read answer.

    So off you go.
