I am not really looking for a degree I just want to take a couple of classes for my own personal growth and enjoyment. I searched for online education and I don’t know what to choose. Please help.

I was looking at an online university as one of my options for grad school and immediately i found out there is a great amount of resistance in accepting online degrees in the professional world. Even if the education is of high quality, online degrees are generally dismissed as inferior or even fake. It seems to me that one day, online education will be very common.

How long do you think it will take before online education will be widely accepted, if you think it will one day be widely accepted?

online education means i would take classes one at a time, each for 5 weeks, no summer breaks, but more free time during the day. I hope someone who has taken college courses online can inform me.
community colleges most people know about. Please consider all pro’s and con’s. This is a very big decision for me.

I haven’t attended no school while I’ve been here,I’ve just been working.
I know College is very serious and costs alot of $$$$$$$$$,I just feel like I’m not ready to jump right into College since it would be my first time studying in the America.
The transportation would be the problem to the campus (not gonna catch the bus every day).

I’ve thought about taking some cosmetology classes, which I probably are gonna end up doing.

    How effective is ONLINE EDUCATION?
    Which is the best ones?
I would think Online Education is pretty flexible (since I can travel while I’m in school and etc.?

This is the position I’m in. I’m a musician and I can’t let life go by without giving fame a serious try. My eggs aren’t all in that basket though. My second love is teaching so I plan on getting a degree while I try and get my 15 minutes – but performing requires a lot of travel and most teacher ed. programs will tie me down to one spot. My answer: online college.

What criteria do I judge an online college by? What accreditation should they have? Are teachers with online degrees marketable? Or respected in their fields? I need a bachelors, ideally in math, science, or history but I assume any worthy college offering an education BA or BS would offer one of those.

I am looking for some real answers here, what is everyone’s deal with online education? Honestly, most of the people who answer questions regarding online education have you ever done it? Do you work for a major fortune 500 company and know how employers perceive the degrees? There are many fortune 500 companies that will reimburse your tuition for online education through programs at Capella or University of Phoenix, so why would they pay for them and then not accept them, that doesn’t make any sense. If you really read alot of the reviews people always seem to complain about the cost of tuition, who cares if someone is willing to pay it. A college education is very expensive no matter where you earn it. If a school is accredited then it is worth something. I read a post that someone wrote that accredidation is just a piece of paper and any school can be accredided, so if that is the case, then aren’t all schools pointless since accredidation means nothing. Any thoughts?

I’m about to finish my Associate Degree (through an online school) and am looking to start on my Bachelor’s. I’ve heard that college choice is important in that major universities (like UCLA, Stanford, etc.) are viewed better (by employers) than smaller ones and getting your degrees from different schools is best (like Associate’s from one, Bachelor’s from one, and Master’s from yet another one).

I’m doing online/distance learning, though, so I’m wondering if any of that still applies?
Does the online school really make a difference, or do people see online and that’s all that matters? Some of the more well known ones, such as Kaplan and Phoenix, are VERY expensive. I know that my education is important, but I don’t want to spend more than I have to JUST for the name of the school if an employer would be satisfied with the same degree from another school, which is thousands cheaper.
And how important is it to get my degrees from different schools?

I’m not sure who I would ask all these questions to, so I’m hoping someone out there on Yahoo might have some helpful insight. Thanks in advance! 🙂

I am looking for a non profit university that offers a bachelors degree program in elementary education. I am currently attending the UOP, however, I am looking to save money. Does anyone know of any schools that offer such degrees? I have tried googleling schools and I’ve looked at several major university, but none offer a bachelors.
Nonprofit means that the school is not looking for just money and usually treat their students better. For instance, I attended ETSU and it’s nonprofit, however; UOP is profit…..that’s why tuition is so high.

  37. Mechelle April 23, 2014 at 2:38 am Reply

Please save my bleary eyes from more research. I am a spouse of a U.S. military officer, living in Asia (not near any universities). Obviously, I cannot obtain a master’s degree in the traditional sense. That leaves online. My concern is having a degree on my resume from an institution that nobody’s heard of. I know that there are plenty of good quality schools out there that are not widely known. However, I feel a bit leery of the schools that are exclusively online. Even if they’re properly accredited, are there any exclusively online schools that are great quality, somewhat known, and “safe?”

Some of the well known schools like Drexel and Penn St. have some online master’s degree programs, but their programs are not as flexible as the lesser known schools’ programs. Being a military spouse who moves frequently, flexibility is critical. Quality is critical! Thoughts? Advice?

Thank you for your time in reading this long post.

I’ve been wanting to go back to school and finish my degree, but with a full time job and a family it’s hard.
Is it worth looking into an online degree? I’d like to get a bachelors degree in business in order to be eligible for a management position at my company (or similar company). I had taken almost 2 years at a brick and mortar college, however my credits have expired (it’s been 11 years) so I’ll need to start from scratch.
So is it a good idea to look into an online college or just wait for the right time to return to regular college? I’d rather not waste my time and money for a “worthless” education.
I would like to keep the door open for a masters degree as well.
I currently am an advertising executive with a mid-sized company in the northeast. My current position does normally require a degree, but with my 2 years college and 10 years experience I was given the job, but I don’t think I’d be given a promotion without the degree.

I was thinking of getting an education degree online to teach high school, I originally wanted to go and teach art but I assume you would need to go to a campus for that, and if I do go back to school I’m definitely going to take the classes online. How can you really learn effectively from taking classes on the internet? These for-profit schools like University of Phoenix and Grand Canyon University are taking the seriousness out of degrees. I know that they don’t even require you to take the GRE’s to get into their grad programs…. I feel like online degrees are taking the guts out of what was once believed to be achieved through hard work and personal collaboration. Why do you think most of these schools do not offer science degrees like Engineering, Physics or Chemistry?

Everytime someone asks a question about online schools teachers and professors put it down. There is more than enough evidence showing that employers not only support but actaully prefer online education because it proves to them that their employee’s are flexible, can multi-task and are able to set goals and achieve them.

Why is there still a small number of idividuals who hate online universities?
