Are On the web College Degrees Worth every penny

Online college degrees have been around for above a decade. While there is no doubt that the diploma generators of old are extremely active on the Internet these days, the fact is there are plenty of outstanding and accredited applications online. But what do employers think of online college degrees Here are a few of the more common views about the value of on the web college degrees, and also which ones tend to be given a wider amount of acknowledgement.

Early on, there was significant amounts of doubt about the veracity regarding online college degrees. Critics stated there is no way to adequately replicate the experience of the classroom, complete with realtime interaction with a teacher. While it is true the first endeavours at online school degrees and the lessons required to earn the diplomas were simplistic, the procedure quickly matured. Well prepared lectures that are accompanied by instant messaging allow the college students to submit questions to the professor, who is able to answer them in the school or respond independently to the student later. Chat rooms allow the pupils to interact with one another, and exams are timed. Assignments are usually sent to the mentor via email, that also saves a lot of time. In short, the online experience today is very close to the stay class experience, then one that some often prefer.

Some companies have the impression that online college levels are not as thorough as traditional degrees. Often, the same text messages and course traces are used with both types of programs, thus there is no difference inside the materials used. Instructors regarding online courses also typically teach in a stay setting as well, thus there is no question of the competency of the instruction. Generally, investigation into the requirements established by the college for the online program is enough to convince employers that the degrees really are worthy. In any case, the actual expanding popularity of on the web college degrees canno doubt make the problem a moot point in another decade, as more and more graduates opt for online understanding programs.

I took a couple classes from University of Phoenix before I realized that no one would ever take me seriously with a degree from UoP and I probably would not get the education I needed. I’m having trouble finding a respectable online college to get a degree from (I know they are far and few between and most of them are for-profit schools) and any help would be greatly appreciated.

For my entire life, I have been around video games. It’s all I know and love. I live in a small to average size community where there are no video game outlets (GameStop, EB Games, Blockbuster) in the area. We only have Red Box vendors. I want to build the premiere hot spot in video gaming. I dont want to divulge to much as I do have some pretty good ideas. So what college degree do I need to pursue?

Is there an accredited school where I can earn a degree without ever stepping foot in a classroom, with math/english/all required courses 100% available over the internet?

I am looking for an online college to attend. Due to my life situation I can not attend an on campus college. I would like to find an online college that offers degrees in web design and or development. I’m leaning more towards web design. I already have a general knowledge of web design. Any suggestion? Also how do I find out if they are a reputable online college? I am in the state of Pennsylvania. I am eligible for fafsa. Do all online colleges accept this? I’m not sure how financial aid through government or the school works.

A lot of them, I noticed, do not accept the Linux OS for learning apparatus. Could someone please refer me to or tell me of a 100% online degree college (preferably in accounting) that includes Linux in its requirements? Thank you!

    Hi!

I’m trying to get a degree in Accounting as I have 7 years on-the-job experience and only two college classes from a school I moved away from.

I enrolled with a new local college for online classes over 4 months ago to find out (today) that my student loan was cancelled because my paperwork was not processed in time to start the session of classes I applied to attend.

I have decided, after this 4 month long disaster, not to reapply with the same school or to reapply for a student loan.

So, does anyone know of any good online colleges I can look into? I want a good education, but affordable.

    Thanks for your help!!

I work 30 hours a week, and I don’t drive, so commuting is going to be a pain. I’ve already taken my main classes and gotten an associates degree at a local community college, but I was wanting to go on to get a Bachelor’s degree. Someone suggested to me that I look up online colleges, and while it seems like a good idea, though rather impersonal form of education, I don’t know if it is creditable.

I was thinking about applying to an online university to get a degree in art. However, I’m not sure how legit a degree from an online university is. Somebody recently told me that a degree achieved online is not as good as a “real” degree and that it does not look as good to potential employers and you are less likely to get a good job than someone who went to a physical college. Is this true?

And another question..do you think good paying jobs would have a less chance of hiring you if you took online college rather than going to a real one? thanks in advance to anyone who can help..

Hi and thanks Derek… I thought so… How do employers check to find out if it was online or not… meaning, how would they find out? … Is it listed on your degree or transcript when you call the University to have it sent to the employer? or does the employer call the University itself? ….

I have read some negative posting on yahoo answers about online schools and how it is worthless. I never agreed with people who would down it because I now so many people who have graduate from online schools and have a career in the field of their studies.
