Allows face the facts, health care insurance is costly and it is the main reason most People in america can’t afford healthcare coverage. Even though many employees can buy medical health insurance through their job, other employees cannot purchase coverage of health if they’re self-employed or work on a work site that doesn’t provide coverage of health.

Inside your opinion, what can you say are explanations why People in america don’t end up buying health care insurance apart from the price of getting healthcare?

For some reason I thought if you had a work related injury, hospitals had to bill the workers comp and it was illegal for them to bill any private medical insurance. I know auto insurance has a cap, like $100,000 personal injury and once that runs out the medical insurance starts being billed but for some reason I thought it was different with work comp claims. Was I wrong?

I’m 24, and I’ve been reading a lot of posts online about people who have many health ailments and do not have insurance to get treated or go to the ER then have a massive bill afterwards. I don’t understand why these individuals are not hunting around for the cheapest medical insurance they can find prior. There are individual plans out there, directly through the insurance companies, also family plans. You can pick and choose your premiums/deductibles/co-pays, hunt around for what suits your needs best. The single plans especially, can be and most of the time are, affordable. I don’t understand why people do not apply for basic health insurance that would cover them in an emergency, or for general routine health-care. Premiums can be as low as 60-100 a month for a single person. Please can someone explain to me why these people are not taking advantage of what is out there? Or even possibly applying for the government assistance plans if they’re not employed, especially after an ER visit with no insurance? This is an honest question. Thanks

With the new health care law it is my understanding that medical professionals are going to have more patients at a cheaper rate. To me, it seems like a bad deal for doctors who get more patients and make less per patient. It seems like the government is allowing more people to have medical insurance at the expense of doctors salaries and that doctors will have less means to pay back extensive loans many take to become doctors and have had trouble paying before the health care reform bill was passed. I feel as if doctors will have a hard end of this deal if forced to accept the new medical insurance set forth by the government. To me a real solution for doctors would be to go into private practice but my understanding is that there are more limitations on that as well. I see a solution in not accepting any type of medical insurance and thus only catering to those who could afford care. It may sound greedy but in all honesty medicine is a business when it comes right down to it and all the government regulation of medicine seems to be unfair to doctors in my honest opinion and with all due respect the president should have included in the bill some sort of cheaper medical training because what i think a major reason in doctors high salaries apart from the large amount of work they put into what they do (which maybe makes the government regulation some kind of socialism) is the large amount of money that those entering the field of medicine must put in to become doctors. I want to know if doctors can still make the money that they MOST CERTAINLY DESERVE through means of not accepting any insurance. If my point of view is baseless i would appreciate any respectful form of enlightenment but regardless of my point of view I would like to know that legality of private medicine and not accepting any insurance.
    Thank you

Right now we are seeing an RE and have medical insurance but it covers no infertility testing or treatments. We have paid out of pocket about $5,000 so far (testing and 2 treatment cycles with timed intercourse). We meet with our RE this week to decide what our next step will be. I am wondering if he is going to suggest an increase in medication with IUI or even IVF.

So my question is… Should we try to search for a private insurance plan that will cover some of the treatments? Is this possible? Will it benefit us after paying for the policy plus the deductible or it is better that we just pay out of pocket? I am unsure and plan on doing some research about this or asking our doctor’s office for advice.

If anyone has any experience with this please help!!

I do know that some people have insurance coverage for at least 50% of their fertility treatments. I just didn’t know what company I could get an individual policy from and if it would be beneficial.

Basically, my wife got bit by a stranger’s dog. I took her to the emergency room, and additionally had a police report filed.

My understanding is that the hospital or our insurance company is supposed to go after the stranger for payment. Instead… the hospital charged everything to my medical insurance (Anthem Blue Cross) and Blue Cross paid for it.

The end result is I get a bill to pay $300 for the remainder, which I don’t think I should be paying.

At this point I’m wondering what I should do to avoid paying for something that the stranger should be responsible for:

    1) Call stranger and ask for $300… doubt this will work. If not, then file small claims lawsuit (such a hassle with the serving etc)?
    2) Have my medical insurance charge back the payment to the hospital provider and have the hospital charge the correct person?
    3) Something else?

    Thanks in advance!

I need an op for something that’s not deemed “urgent” (except by me!) and so i’m on a lengthy waiting list.

Will cost around Ā£3000 privately which i dont really have.

Question is this: I find someone with medical insurance who’s happy for me to slip them some money and i pretend to be them and get it done.

What are the chances of getting away with it?

No answers mentioning jail and fraud etc etc – i know its a bit silly and probably wont take it any further but right now i dont fancy another 6 months of pain when it can be sorted with a 30 minute keyhole surgery op!

Assume i find someone with similar looks, medical history etc and that we don’t screw up.

    What else would be needed?

I’ve never applied for insurance so have no idea how they know who you are – blood type, eye colour, etc etc

    any input welcome.

I think I have chronic fatigue syndrome and I’ve also experienced a constricted pharynx for about 2 years. So I want to see a specialist about that. I have $3000 in my bank account right now from scholarships. The medical insurance through my university costs about $2000 a year (including deductible) and covers 80% covered in-network services. The reason I’m cautious about using the money is because my mom has a hellish job, working 14 hours a day and she sleeps 4 hours a night. She recently got into a car accident because she was dozing off. She wasn’t hurt this time, but if the pattern continues, I’m afraid there may be next times. I really think she should quit her job.
So, I’m not sure if the insurance is worth the cost? Also since the insurance doesn’t covered pre-existing conditions for the first 6 months. How much would it take to see a specialist out of pocket?

I’m really conflicted over whether I should buy medical insurance or not…
How much do you think Obamacare would cost for me?

I just purchased this medical insurance a few minutes ago,
“Breakthru 80 Plan, $500 Deductible” with Regence Blueshield. I am a little concerned on what is going to happen. I see a ANRP (well I just started to see) for anxiety. She diagnosed me with Social Anxiety with Agoraphobia and Bipolar 2. I am taking BuSpar but haven’t started the Effexor. (I really don’t want to take two meds at once, call me weird!) When I set my appointment up with the ARNP, I didn’t have insurance, I was paying out of pocket. So I did mention check off anxiety and that I take medicine for it. How much privacy do I really have? I certainly don’t want the insurance company denying coverage for seeing an ARNP. (I’m not much of a liar and perfer to be honest) I’m pretty clueless on what to expect, any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Thanks to all who answered. I failed to think about that I won’t be using this insurance for mental health issues. I don’t think its even covered, but I have no issues with paying out of pocket. I just wanted to know if the stuff I told my ARNP is truly going to stay with her and not be forwarded to the insurance company.
I appreciate all but Carly’s answers, thanks for your time. šŸ™‚ Too bad I could only pick one best answer.

Carly: Get a life. I don’t know how many people sit around on their computer with their friends to make fun of others. It sounds a little strange to me, but I’m not one to judge. You make crude remarks as though you know me. If you were educated or at least used Google, you would know that Bipolar 2 and Anxiety is not “severe”, so grab a clue. As for my financial status, all you need to know is that I am well off and have no problems. Thanks for your “concern” though. Since you keep harassing me by answering my other questions, how about being a real woman and just send me a message or email? I can’t fathom you enjoy this sort of attention? If so, perhaps I’m not the one with the severe mental issues.//reported.

I am finally getting dropped from my parents medical insurance in March. I will be turning 26, so its time to shop for my own medical insurance. I don’t want to continue the coverage that my dad had me on, its way too expensive. I am a white male, 25, non-smoker, looking for a high deductible and tiny premiums. Just want to get my bases covered. So where do I go to get medical insurance? How do I know I am getting the right price? What should I look forward to paying? Can I get free medical insurance somewhere? Should I get dental and vision insurance too? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I made my question vague and naive on purpose to get back simple answers. I have done some research. I know my current policy as a dependent (which is nearly $400 a month) and I have my own car insurance. I just thought that somehow someway there would be an easy way to shop for it. I am 240pds. and 6ft. 1in. so I doubt I am out of the running to get health insurance (and to be blunt, how can you even judge a picture of my face like that…I digress). My current agent offered me a comprehensive major medical plan for around $65 a month. 25,000 deductible. Which is probably what I am going to take. Thanks for the suggestions though.
Additional Details Pt. 2: After doing some research on my own, this link is what I am leaning towards.

Alright, I’m in a bit of a bind, and completely confused. As far as medical insurance goes, I went from my parent’s to the military, and then to being a military dependent. In February, I got a divorce, and have been struggling with medical ever since. I will give a bit of a history, and maybe someone could give me some input!

I had breast cancer, but was diagnosed Cancer Free in January 2008. Because of that, I still have check ups every few months, along with having my port catheter flushed very 6 weeks. The only surgery that I have left (that I know of) is having the port removed from my chest.

That being said, I only make about $9/hr, along working as a bartender on the weekends. I have had to pay my ex $500/month in child support. Please don’t start a discussion on the ins and outs of my divorce settlement. That is NOT why I am posting this.

I need someone to basically explain how Medical insurance works (hmo, ppo, etc) and what type of coverage would be best for me… low income, with a need to see the doctor on a regular basis, covering mammograms and other tests, and good prescription coverage…

Is there any type of government help I’d qualify for? I wouldn’t know where to begin.

I need some help so I can help out my brother. Hes 26 and doesn’t have any health or medical insurance and ive been getting on his case a lot about it latley. What are some free or cheap state insurance companies in Connecticut that I can have him check out. Because he doesn’t make a lot of money, so he doesn’t have a lot extra to spend a month. Thanks.

What is the best global/international medical insurance?
Question Details: Hi. What is the most comprehensive individual-policy medical insurance that includes prescription drug coverage? I want to teach English in China someday and it depresses me that I won’t be able to retain my job’s medical insurance for USA coverage. I’d have to purchase my own. I’m afraid that I might get a plan that won’t cover important things if I get sick and want to travel back to USA for treatment..

Iā€™m 20 year old female and I live in Alaska. Iā€™m a caregiver love it, but have no health benefits with my job. I am thinking about serving a two year mission with my Church and they ask that we get our molars removed if possible. I also think I need my tonsils removed because they have been giving me a lot of problems. I work full time and go to school full time! Is it cheaper for me to just get medical insurance for a year or a few months and get all my dental/medical stuff squared away? Can I get both dental and medical? For just a few months? Who is good? Who will cover everything or most? Should I just pay out of my pocket?
    Thanks for any help šŸ™‚

I fell on my deck, and went through surgery, the total medical expense is about 25K. Now my medical insurance company is asking for homeowner insurance policy. I am not sure how to handle it to avoid any potential cost to me such as deductible or premium increase. Is the medical insurance policy the primary or the homeowner insurance policy for this case?

I don’t know how it works… I want to get medical insurance but I don’t know where to begin, and since I don’t it would be very easy for someone to con me into spending a whole lot more money than I should be, so I’m worried about that.
I’m 21, female, don’t smoke, in good shape; I don’t know what else matters… About how much would my insurance cost a month.
And if I had a $900 hospital or doctor bill, how much would that be saving me?

    Ugh. Clueless :/
I like how yall use terms like “HRAs are better than IRAs” when I have no clue wth an IRA even is -__-

I have a medical condition and need surgery ASAP . My condition was confirmed by a doctor friend of mine off the record . I plan on seeing another surgeon next week and surgery will be later in month. QUESTION I have no insurance so if I buy medical insurance tomorrow will it pay for the needed surgery at end of month since there is no record of my condition being confirmed by doctor yet?

Is there anyone one here from Minnesota who can recommend a decent relatively inexpensive family medical insurance plan? 2 adults and 3 children. They can’t afford 800 bucks a month for a plan with a 5000 buck deductible or 700 for a 7000 deductible. He makes too much for medical assistance or Minnesota Care or Medicaid…just a little too much, and he isn’t eligible for medical coverage through his employer. Please help!!!! Anyone ever hear of Land’s Health???
OK…based on the first reply…forget about Land’s Health. I know you get what you pay for, but there must be something decent for less than those amounts I mentioned in the first part of my post. Like for many other people, this will make the difference in having enough groceries and paying their car insurance and having gas to go to work. They live in a rural area and it is about 25 miles to work. Main concern is coverage for office visits and ER visits and some prescription coverage…at least for the kids.
This is my son’s family I am talking about. He isn’t eligible yet for his employer’s group health program..won’t be until the end of the year, and then the montly premiums for the family plan will be over 800 for his part. The county social services worker they have said there’s nothing she can do. My grandson has some health issues that make him “high risk”, so I don’t know if anyone will insure him. My daughter-in-law doesn’t know all the ins and outs of dealing with these people…and I don’t know a lot either. I called the agent I have my Medicare supplement with and she gave me the family medical plan rates i quoted in the first paragraph of my post. No free clinics around here.

Okay, my husband and I would LIKE to start trying to conceive 3-6 months from now. We do not have medical insurance provided through his work so we need to explore other options. Also, we are both full time college student however, school does not provide student medical insurance. I have found some student insurance policies but they really only cover emergency room visits.

I have looked into getting private insurance. It seems ‘SelectHealth’ and ‘Blue Cross Blue Shield’ both have maternity coverage, however, the maternity deductibles run between $5000 and $6500.

I have found that supplemental insurance can help with the deductable but that’s a bit confusing.

Does anyone have experience going through private insurance and or using supplemental insurance?

Any other suggestions for paying for the baby would also be appreciated!

    Thanks ladies!
    Thanks for all the help.
    I am in Utah
We have “baby your baby” which gets you started until medicaid kicks in.
I called her and she said we had to make no more then $2030 a month to qualify. Would this be the same for medicaid? My husband makes about $50 less than that but when I start working we’ll exceed that.

I looked into SelectHealth and they have a $6500 deductable plus montly premiums. We don’t want to rely on state but I feel pressed for solutions.

Considering the people who do the right thing and pay huge premiums for insurance, and are paying for those who don’t pay insurance, what if everyone just said “screw it” and stopped paying for medical insurance? If you dont pay for car insurance, you are left with a broken car and you have to pay for it or you don’t have a car. Yet if you don’t pay a medical bill and break your leg, you still get care for the leg. Imagine if the same was with the car insurance agencies, insurance would be sky high and there would be no incentive to pay for car insurance.
