    I have been unemployed for more the eight months. I have a few mental health issues that I need to be taken care of before I should be employed again. I have no issues that cause harm to myself or others, I just have difficultly with extreme mood changes and setting myself to lose another job. I can not keep a job long enough pay for mental care, so is there a place where I can get it for free, including drugs if applicable?

    Is this something that requires medication always, or can it be treated by other means, such as cognitive therapy, herbal supplements, vitamins, etc? Do you know someone who has overcome this? Is it prone to relapses once it’s overcome, or is it gone for good once it’s treated?
    In terms of medication, what are some effective and low sideaffect meds out there for this condition?
    Some of you mentioned anti depressants, however, I am not the least bit depressed and don’t experience any mood swings, so it is just the social anxiety itself that I would like to know how to treat. I appreciate everyone’s feedback.

    I just got my master’s degree. I’m really proud of that. But I encountered an enormous amount of stress in doing so. In addition to this, my living conditions after the fact were less than ideal, and involving direct emotional trauma brought on by mental episodes and 3am wake-ups by my mentally ill roommate. I was broke, and got a job to help support us both, although there were days when I couldn’t afford to each. I understand that it’s not her fault, and furthermore, I’m eternally grateful for being allowed to stay with her, it was an extremely difficult situation to be in, and although I carry a feeling of triumph for having made it through all of that, and I’m happy to be back at home…I’m still feeling depressed, and stressed out, and I’m not sleeping well.

    I have a history of depression myself, and this is just the latest in a series of major traumas from parents’ divorce, emotional abuse, self-harming, unhealthy relationships, over half a dozen friends dead, before 25, etc., like my whole life has just been a struggle, like a weed trying to break through a foot thick pavement. I know that “that’s life” and you have to just press on, and all that other poetic crap, but I really feel…traumatized, like…like I’m overloaded now, I’ve seen too much, but I can’t talk to anyone about it because I don’t want to throw my friend under the bus, and I don’t want to seem overdramatic. And the last time I sought professional help, they put me in the psych ward, so I don’t really trust the mental health system anymore. But then I just feel more and more alone, and I’m wrestling with depression and self-destructive thoughts every day, and I’m wondering how much more of this I can take before I get too tired to keep my head above water. How long do I have before this depression, this emotional stress either kills me or drives me to kill myself? What can I do to defuse this ticking time bomb?

    I usually read that men cheat because for sexual reasons and women cheat for emotional reasons. I’m not sure if I agree with that theory though. I think both genders cheat due to emotional stress, not for just the sexual gratification. Usually there is some emotional intimacy lacking in their current relationship and they are trying to make up for that.

    I am reading books and researching online to find the best solutions to my problem
    My team of supporters and I have come up with an effective strategy to overcome my problem, and it will work without a doubt
    I chose optimism in every moment because although things may get tough, I’ve learned that negative thinking accomplishes absolutely nothing- It only creates more pain
    I will always remember to remind myself of the truth that beautiful things are waiting for me in the future. So there is no reason to allow myself to feel hopeless.

    I CAN find peace in this moment.

I think you overgeneralized with two statements you made, but I understand why you responded that way, because when I was in a deep suffering, I use to respond the same way to suggestions about positive thinking. But the techniques Im referring to above are more complex than the common usage of the phrase “just think positive.” There is a lot involved that I didn’t cover in the words above such as understanding the functions of the frontal lobe, and limbic system, conscious and subconscious minds, affirmations, that depression/anxiety doesn’t come from circumstances but it comes from our thoughts about those circumstances, visualization, concentration, neuroplasticity, and more.     I know they either kill or stop the bacteria multiplying in the pores of your skin, stopping spots developing and reducing inflammation. But how does a tiny amount in a capsule or whatever manage to get from being swallowed, all the way to killing bacteria in your skin. I’ve just started a course of taking one lymecycline capsule 408 mg a day for 2 months which will probably be extended to 6 months if all is ok. So yeah it probably sounds like a dumb question but I’m just interested..
    I mean in like a detailed level. I study biology and would like to know more.

    Years ago I chose to do animation and comics as a career. But I am having huge problem with meeting the deadlines because my creativity freezes for days when I face some daily emotional stress.
    That made me lose many opportunities in my work, because meeting deadlines is very essential to keep a work you know.

    I find it that art depends a lot on the mood, and losing the right mood can ruin inspiration. This problem is much easier to overcome in other kinds of work that don’t need creativity to be accomplished..

    Anybody knows how to overcome this? Any similar experiences?

    Ladies,

    I’ve always heard that being sick/stress can put off a period. But by how long? My girlfriends period is due on the 6th and todays the 2nd, and normally she’s PMSing by now but for some reason she isn’t. Shes been through a lot of stress at home the last few months, and was even very sick right in the middle of her cycle.

    We are sexually active, but we use a condom combined with pull out method (I’ve never once ejaculated inside her) but we’re not worried about being pregnant yet, cause as I said, she isn’t due till the 6th. However, the fact that she hasn’t started to PMS yet, and the only cramping she gets is when she thinks about it, is starting to raise a few eyebrows.

    I’m almost 9 weeks and I’ve been so stressed the last two days. Between my fiance’s ex calling, working two jobs, going to school, and now I’m getting all paranoid that I might have cervical cancer…. I’ve felt like crying all day and I just can’t get over it. I would say something to my fiance but we are both working really hard right now to pay off some bills so I don’t just want to dumb all of that on him when he walks in the door tonight after working 10 hours. My best friend that I usually tell everything to is in mexico for the next week and I can’t reach her I don’t know what I should do…..what should I do to calm myself down. I keep getting these waves of tears every once in a while and I don’t want to cry at work and I don’t want all this stress on the baby.

    Recently a lot of major changes have happened in my life. My mother is suicidal, and very depressed. No one in my family will take care of her, it’s up to me to be there for her. I’m not complaining about that by any means. My father sent the whole family for a loop when he said he didn’t want anything to do with us anymore, because his real family (his gf of 7months family) is his family, and not us. I can’t find a job, and to be truthful, though I go on countless interviews, i’m almost happy I can’t get one (but i really do want one, just the one I want not a crappy min. wage one).

    I need to find a way to deal with the stress because it’s harming my relationship with my boyfriend of three years. What makes it more stressful is that it’s in long distance mode right now. Any advice or management ideas would be greatly appreciated! thank you!

    Since quitting smoking 4 months ago I am feeling much healthier physically but my mood has been worsening. Instead of reaching for a cigarette when I’m stressed or upset and feeling better afterwards, now I don’t know what to do.
    Has any former smokers gone through something similar? Any advice?

    Lately i have been super stressed. I am 16 and i have a huge family. Me my mom and my 2 brothers and 2 sisters all live in a 3 bedroom apartment. I grew up being the mom around the house though. My mom is hardly ever home because she works and goes to school. She is having another baby too. Which is adding even more stress, because my boyfriend doesnt want me to have to keep watching all the kids because it is hurting our relationship. I am in homeschool and i get lots of homework so i have that to stress about as well. There is also the stress of having to clean up after all my brothers and sisters and making them do their homework. I babysit monday thru wednesday at 5 am. I am like almost never happy anymore all i ever do is worry about other peoples lives. I put everyone in front of me.Please help me!!!! i dont know what to do. i want to find ways to relieve myself from some stress. anyways are really helpful!!!!!
    I really want to talk to my mom about it but i am always scared to talk to her. i always freak out and end up backing out. I have been with my boyfriend for a little over 1 year. And he tries everything he can to help me out.

    I find myself being snotty and mean because I can’t deal with all the stress I’m getting from recently moving, getting used to a new school, tons and tons of homework, and being lonely. I have tons and tons and tons of homework all due within about two weeks and I can’t find a way to release all the stress (i don’t play sports or instruments etc.).     Since Junior year started stress and anxiety has really began to affect my body. I get upset stomachs almost every time I get to school in the mornings, I feel nauseous on and off throughout the day, I cannot sit still at times, and overall I just don’t feel well. I already have a very sensitive stomach, I cannot eat much dairy at all anymore especially because of this, and I just don’t know how to deal with this. I get anxious sometimes for no reason at all even when I am not in school as well.     My am leaving for my destination wedding in 3 days. I am stressed but its not about the actual wedding. I am taking a summer class that I have to take and trying to get a head before we leave and pack and work and make sure my house is clean.     Lately I have began feeling more and more stressed, depressed, and anxious. I have woken up in the middle of the night, unable to fall back asleep because my mind is racing and I’m thinking of either family issues that are going on, financial problems, or my schoolwork. When I finally get out of bed, I am tired and feel like a robot the entire day. I don’t really feel any emotions besides stress, anger, and sadness. I don’t want to just take a pill to make things better, I actually want to get better. Any tips on how to manage stress? Right now I am so on edge I think of killing myself if I get stuck behind a train on my way to work or if I get all the red lights, I am just irritable all of the time.

    I ask because the hormones give you anxiety and stress.. yet the medication makes the babies go through withdrawl when born… so I refused the meds.. even though I feel anxiety and some depression…

    Why is stress so bad? I was realy stressed in my fist pregnancy… and everything was fine. And life happens.. stress doesn’t stop just becuase you are pregnant… People go on and on about stress when pregnant, and then you start to stress about ‘am I stressing so much when pregnant’…?

    I’m 14 and under a TON of stress and have a lot of family problems going on. Everyone tells me i should go talk to someone, but i dont think thats what i want to do or whats best for me. Plus, i get anxiety pretty bad sometimes. Please give me some ideas. Thank you!
    I excersize all the time, i weight lift, i go on runs, i dance out my stress, i listen to music, i just dont know what to do anymore…

    I am going thru a divorce. Can I sue him for verbal abuse and emotional stress throughout our marriage?
