The 5 most Popular Internet Email Ripoffs to Avoid

Internet e mail scams have been on the rise recently because lots more people are spending their particular time online. Those people who are harmless of the scams are generally easy victims unless they are informed from the usual types of ripoffs that can be encountered online.

The Nigerian scam is actually infamous. The scammer is said to be coming from Nigeria and is looking for a partner overseas because of a very large amount of money worth up to US$ 21 million with regard to transfer. During messages, the scammer may request payment in the victim for legal fees though there will be no money move that will happen. The particular scam preys upon the emotions of innocent and compassionate victims. This scam is a alternative of a very old disadvantage called \”The Spanish Captive.\”

An email that needs an advance fee to have an approved credit card loan is definitely a rip-off. No credit card company requires money during sign-up for a loan. Individuals who receive such emails should remember that credit card businesses require a loan application prior to approving a loan. If you are sure that you did not submit an application for any loan then the e mail is definitely a scam.

Sweepstakes email scams may also be one of the frequent spammers of email accounts. These frauds are easily identifiable simply because they require payment of the processing fee just before allowing collection of the actual winnings.

Phishing emails may also be very popular and are not necessarily the least dangerous. They can acquire passwords and even credit card details just be sending a seemingly legitimate email from a reputable organization such as a credit card company. That steals your identity by redirecting you to any fake website to get into your credit card details and PIN.

Overpayment scams, alternatively, are Internet e-mail scams that utilizes on the desire of someone to be able to make a sale on the web. The buyer of the item on sale is allegedly located overseas. He promises to pay you more than the selling price should you be able to send your pet money to pay the intended international fees associated with customs first.

Starting 13 February 2012, whenever I would open my yahoo email account I would get a pop-up yahoo messenger request from my own yahoo id. I simply denied the request. I was wondering if anyone else was receiving such requests and if anyone might know what kind of scam is being run from these fake requests?

I’ve received a few emails regarding my winning or entered in a sweepstakes and that I need to reply for “award confirmation”. Since most emails of this nature originate outside the U.S., I don’t automatically respond for fear of identity theft or viruses.

Do you know of anyone who canceled their regular ISP on their home computer because their blackberry gave them everything they needed with regard to the net? Will blackberries soon replace PCs when it comes to other uses?

I ordered shoes from this website http://www.pumshoes.com/ 13 days ago. The order status keeps shifting from pending to processing. The shoes I ordered seemed to be to good to be true they were like half the price of any other website. I feel like this website might be a scam? What do you think do you think the shoes will actually come? If not what should I do?

My scam involved an online dating site. This woman conned me into believing she was going to come and visit me in Texas she being in Mississippi. I was sceptical at 1st when she asked for money but after communicating with her for some time I sent money to the tune of over $700.00. It was all a scam as now she has changed her phone number and no longer answers her emails at her 2 addresses. Who do I report this to ? How do I get her arrested for this crime ?

I was a recipient of one of the facebook email scams going round recently. Im not normally an idiot but for some reason a opened it and now I am a little worried that if i access my internet banking i will be divulging my details to someone via a trojan called bredolab. I deleted the attachment just after the run stage and then conducted virus checks with malwarebytes and avg and they have come up clean (only an adware cookie found and consequently quarantined) I have also downloaded a program called rapport to help guard personal online details. I cant lose my internet banking as its important to me so are there any other things I can check for (names of files etc.) or is there any advice anyone can give me apart from dont be a div and open things you dont expect.

Money is tight around our house. My husband and I have been pulling odd jobs lately trying to make ends meet. Well, I checked the mail today, and my husband got a check for $2,850. It came from out-of-state, and it came with a typed note saying, “email me with the subject being “Awaiting Further Instructions”.

So… I logged onto my husband’s email. Apparently he fell for the typical Craigslist scam of “give me your name and address and I will mail you a check and tell you what to do with it.”

This guy wants us to send a money order to the Phillipines!!! $2,600 to be exact. Even better, I googled the return address. I found the number to the apartment complex and asked them about that particular apartment. It’s been empty for 3 months.

This doesn’t look good. What do I do now??? I can’t let me husband just do something illegal and this looks very fishy.

I just want to start off by saying that I’m from Connecticut, where Medical Cannibus is legal, and I have my card. I am in no way breaking any laws.

I just placed an order from a place in California to buy some Medical Cannibus from them. I paid and they told me they would give the order to FedEx to ship to me overnight. When I got the conformation email from FedEx, they wanted me to wire them $200 for insurance on my ‘goods’ to an area code in Africa. I told them I wasn’t going to send the money, because it looked like a scam, and I got back an email that said because they were shipping illegal goods that they had to make it discreet. Now this got me more nervous about the whole thing, and I emailed the original company. They told me the same thing and that this was in fact a real company, but they can’t send the money in the USA since it can be tracked, which isn’t really a problem for me, but I guess if this company is doing illegal things it’s an issue for them. They have also guaranteed me that the money will be transferred back once I received my package.

I’m nervous now. Was this whole thing a scam? It seems like it now, and I’m very wary on wiring money. But the original company seems legit and they seem like they just want to conduct a business transaction. Any thoughts or opinions?

Years ago some city slicker might have tried to sell a bridge or a statue to a country bumpkin, but these days the net seems to be full of people who try to scam you out of your money. Does anyone seriously fall for this kind of stuff? I got an enquiry for a car I am selling from someone claiming to be on an oil rig, wanted to pay using paypal, and all of a sudden wants to offer me several thousand more than the car was selling for (first sign something was suspect). Then wants me to pay for the transport using western union, sent a very convincing copy of the paypal email too.

Would someone seriously pay a grand to an overseas company via western union without actually checking their paypal account first? Obviously there was no money transferred. Are these scammers just idiots or are there really simple folk who trust too much and pay thinking they have to?

I got an email that opened with the following:
We are pleased to announce you as one of the 3 lucky winners in the 6 DICE LOTTERY UK draw held on 7th of June 2008.

It went on to say that I’d won two million pounds, and had 10 days to claim my winnings.

Anyone else received anything like this?

I know it’s probably one of those Nigerian Lottery scams, but what if it’s for real?

I thought I’d better check it out before responding.

    Can anyone help?

I recently lost all of my music on my Ipod. I was in the process of backing it up on my computer and hard drive when- poof- they disappeared. I asked someone for help , because the ipod still showed there was music on the disk, the music was just not showing up, instead this person just reset it, losing all of my music with it.

Here are the details- it was not backed up onto anything ( I know, I know). A lot of my music was not downloaded from Itunes, and I didn’t really use the program for storage. I am currently overseas, I don’t really have the luxury of hopping on a plane and getting my music from my home computer, in which it is stored. My sister is willing to help me, so my question is, is it possible to send large audio files over email? Is there anything else I can do? Any help will be appreciated!

    Thanks!

I have looked into retrieving deleted facebook messages and unless you have email you cannot retreive but apparently you cannot retrieve yahoo mail unless it was deleted 24 hours. I need a years worth of emails and messages including any websites looked at and instant messages sent. Is there a way a computer specialist can do this. I know it will cost. But you see it all the time on them crime shows how they catch people by analyzing their hard drive. I also seen some programs you can buy and do it yourself. I am pretty good with computer, I just don’t want to buy something that is not going to give me what I need.
I have yahoo. I know it is web based, but when I go to my start menu on my windows xp there is a shortcut to yahoo mail. So I don’t know if that makes a difference or not. And the computer is not used a whole lot besides checking bank accounts and things of that nature.

He was emailed by that website saying he won 1 million dollars but he has to join and basically he has to spend around 15 dollars to “claim” the prize. Please help explain why this is a scam or do you know of any websites that will help in explain these scams … freelottos in particular?

Hey everyone, I’m fairly new to meeting and chatting with people online, but I’ve met a few gems along the way. I have a question for anyone who has used an internet dating site. If the person posts their username and they have an associated email that coincides with that username, is it ok to send them an email other than being confinec to the constraints of the dating site, i.e. some people cannot read their email unless they pay a fee. Btw there are two foxes I am chasing, hope they’re both for real 🙂
No disrepect about these girls being foxes, but they are very attractive 🙂 Also we’ve emailed a couple of times, and one has asked me to email her some photos, which is not permissible within the site. I’m taking it slow, avoiding the pitfalls, and I think sending them emails is appropriate, since they seem very receptive of me.

im getting a PDA but id like to know..they say you can check your emails anytime anywhere..but you’ll need a wi-fi connection, sooo that means il have to be either at home using a wireless router or USB adapter(considering a purchase of one) or in my local macdonalds..thats handy isnt it :/ or can you check them anywhere but in a basic form, such as the crappy old WAP on mobiles. or can you have to pay a monthly fee to get internet access ANYWHERE. if so how much would it cost monthly and how would i go about purchasing and setting it up.

    thanks for your time.

my brother just bought the blackberry 9700 a few days ago, i live in australia and we are paying $30 a month using telstra services on a 24 month contract, but its only for telstra staff. So since it is unlocked, i put my other sim card from another service, optus prepaid, in the phone but the thing is i cant use the internet (browser), email, etc. I CAN make calls and text and even use wifi but not the internet, etc.
i havent called up optus to connect the internet, but then again i dont think you need to do that, do i?

so could someone let me know why i cant get into the internet and email.

also i’ve heard about the blackberry service plan and was wondering what it is actually, how it works and how much it costs.
    thankyou!!

Part 1: We have bt broadband with a home hub and have been using a desktop. Today my partner got a laptop and it asked for the code on the back of the hub to enable wireless internet access. We did this and it worked – we can use internet explorer on the laptop. BUT I was expecting all the BT ‘things’ that are on the desktop to appear on the laptop ie.BTyahoo!Broadband, BTBroadbandTalk Setup, HubManager, BTYahoo!OnlineProtection, BTCommunicator,BTBroadbandDesktopHelp. These are all programs in the start menu on the desktop when we subscribed for the hub (& were automatically given as icons) but there is no sign of them on the laptop. Does anyone know why this is?
Part 2: We both set up BTYahoo! email using .btinternet.com addresses. Now my partner would rather use outlook express on his laptop but we don’t know how to set it up. It is asking for a POP3 and a SMTP (?) Can the same email address be used for outlook or will outlook ‘provide’ the last part of the address? Thanx in advance

I used to be able to access my bellsouth (at&t) email via yahoo from my laptop via yahoo.

The other day, seemingly on its own, I noticed a new icon on my desktop start bar calling for that email account. Its not something I knowingly or willingly put there.

And at the same time, it took ALL my email from the internet and transferred them to my desktop email which uses Windows mail. And now instead of getting one copy to windows mail and one to the internet account, I get TWO copies of every incoming email to windows mail and none are accessible via the net.
(Either from my laptop or from the library)

My laptop does not have windows mail by the way.

Again, this is not something I knowingly & willingly did and I don’t like it. I tried deleting the icon but it didn’t solve the problem.

I did notice that the internet account manages to accept & retail obvious spam in a spam account but nothing else.

    Appreciate help fixing this.

On the plan it said that I get “unlimited Blackberry internet and Email” does this mean that all the internet I use on the Blackberry browser is free? I thought this was the case, but then I heard from a few people that this is not the case, that this only means that I am able to go on the internet without a quota, while I still need to pay whatever data I use…
