How to Motivate Yourself

Inspiration is not something that is straightforward to come by, especially when you’ve got grown up in a area or household that’s generally laid back and simple to please. But when you grow older, you may come to realize that motivation is key to many human actions. For one, you cannot merely sit back, relax, watching your deadlines pass by in school, or you may possibly never get your solution to go to college.

You can not simply slack off in college and drink yourself to death (or a series of Fs), or you may never get a job. When you are finally sitting at your desk or even driving your car or working or contributing to the economy, you can not simply leave your entire duties and take a nap at home. You will need to do as you did in college: meet deadlines, full requirements, finish accounts, and in general, live your life without losing your power.

How can you motivate yourself? For a number of people who have been used up out in school, school, or the workplace, this is sometimes a difficult thing to achieve. However, there are a few ideas that you can consider whenever you feel that you cannot drive yourself further or even farther.

– Know what exactly it is you want. What are you inspiring yourself to do? Can you merely want to end a job, or do you wish to earn a lot of money? Established tangible, or at least manageable goals for yourself. Once you learn exactly what you want, you can get it, and you can self motivate to get it.

– Give your work a purpose. The issue with a lot of people is because they work hard but they dont know very well what their work is for. Do they want money? Could they be simply working toward money? Would you like money, or does your own money have a purpose? Allow a tangible purpose so that you can know what you might be working for. Striving for money is an empty goal striving for money so that you can get a good house and a nice vehicle might be more concrete striving for more money to be able to help your siblings go to college, your parents to enjoy their retirement living, and your family to have a much better house and vehicle might be even better.

– Take a break. Sometimes, being burned out implies that you need to stay away from issues for a moment, have some time alone to yourself, and get an outsiders view of your circumstances. When you start getting worn out more often, your body could be telling you to decelerate and slowing down can mean re-energizing yourself by taking a vacation, or even just walking. You may want to set aside a few alone time each day so that you can recharge, so that you are not constantly being barraged with work.

– Dont hesitate to say no when you are offered yet another responsibility. Sometimes, you can get a great deal work that you are saturated with stress, and you also reach the point in which you simply want to give up and not start working. Keep your function to a manageable stage. You need to stay rational to keep on working in the long run.

– Reward yourself for a job well done! Organize a trip for yourself, or even promise to take you to ultimately the movies if you complete your work. Little returns, such as snacks plus a cup of hot cocoa, can work too.

How do you motivate (and stay motivated) yourself when you are feeling lazy to do all the household chores?

We all dread it… house chores. Fortunately for me, I only do it once every two weeks. But when the day comes, lots of places and stuff needs to be cleaned. Yet, on the same day, I experience a sense of awful dread and laziness at all the task that must be completed by the end of the day.

How do you get motivated to do things that you don’t want to do but know that you have to do it no matter what?

I am thin but I am also not in good shape.. I am physically weak, I am not flexible at all, and I have an extremely weak cardiovascular system. I feel that it is time for self improvement while I am still young but I need motivation in order to stick with it. To people who have made progress in getting fit, how did you motivate yourself to do so?

I am getting fatter and fatter. 🙁 Even my flat tummy is gone.
Even though I keep telling myself that I should go for a jog, I would end up being lazy, and push it to the other day.

Btw, I eat a lot…. So how do you guys motivate yourself?

I find it hard for me to concentrate and the subjects that I don’t like in college. I’m majoring in Electronic Engineering at ITT-Tech. When it comes to math and electronics courses, I’m always happy to study those. But when it comes to thing like economics and other general education courses. I find it hard to study because I don’t lie them. I think I failed economics this quater. How do you motivate yourself to study?

I’ve tried to lose weight several times and each time I feel like I have less and less motivation to do so, even though I’m becoming more unhealthy and gaining more weight than ever before. Does anyone have any advice or good strategies to motivate yourself to finally make the push and lose the weight?

Experts that study that stuff say 80% of work is done before lunch.
Have you found a way to motivate yourself, to be more productive, during the 2nd half of your day?

When I first start an exercise and healthy eating routine, my motivation burns out after only a couple of days! I find it so frustrating because I really want to become a healthier person but I just can’t be bothered! I tell myself I need to get healthier but nothing seems to work. Healthy food tastes better and makes me feel better in my opinion than junk food and other things like this, but I always give up and break my routine.
I find it so frustrating and was wondering what do you do to motivate yourself?

I bought a money pit house at least a year or so ago….Most of the work I hired people to do. My planning and organizational skills are the pits! So, now I’m stuck with unfinished contractor work, lots of work I should try to do myself (More painting, odds and ends, a few biggies) and then their crap they didn’t complete or do right. I just feel Stuck!!! I’m pretty disappointed as I thought it would be done in 6 mos or less. At this rate, I have another year to go. How do you motivate yourself to get going and back on track?

I am a 17 year old girl, 5’3 and about 129 pounds. I used to exercise all the time and look forward to it everyday. I used to do it for about 2-3 hours a day after school. Its still summer, but I really want to get back into exercising because I put on a few pounds this summer. How do you motivate yourself to exercise and how long does it take to start seeing results?

I need to start running however I live in the city which makes it hard to find good places to run. I don’t really like running on the streets, however I don’t want to have to drive out to the country side just so I can run for like 3km (or until I die which is prob a lot shorter)… How do you motivate yourself to run, or do you just go to the gym?

I need to exercise and everyday I set my alarm for 6am but when it goes off I think:
I love my bed, I love my pillow, it is so warm and cosey here and I will start to exercise tomorrow.

But tomorrow never happens. So what do you do to motivate yourself to get up early and workout?

I’m trying to lose weight and I just can’t be bothered to exercise, I don’t know if its because I can’t find any exercise to look forward to or I’m just lazy. A couple months back I got really into diet and exercise and I exercised every day for about 2 months then I just got lazier and lazier and now I just can’t get back into it. I can do it one day and just go all out but then I don’t do it for weeks. How do I get as motivated and committed as I was back then ?

I am planning to start at 8 in the morning, and considering that I am a night owl and I have school and work to think about this is a pretty early time for me. I plan on going every day at that time early before school and work take hold. Usually I’ll go to work and school and try to work out after that but I usually get too tired to go. Any tips and pointers? I’d like to make this a regular habit.

I have a gap year ahead of me, and now that I’ve finished school there is no-one to make me exercise. I don’t particularly need to lose weight, but I know that I will become hideously unfit and unhealthy if I don’t exercise at all. And it seems to me to be the hardest thing in the world to get myself up off the sofa and active. How can I motivate myself to get up and go?

    Hi!
    I’m 22, a full time mum/ AVON lady/ Student.
I’m overweight and trying to shift the flab….but i just keep loosing motivation!
I am always too tired to go to the gym (i have pre-paid membership too!), i end up eating junk, because by the time i get to sit down and eat, i’m too hungry to cook.
I have so much to loose the weight for, my confidence, my health, to be fitter to play with my son, and also my mum has said she’ll pay for me to fly out to Barbados (she just moved out there) if i get down to the healthiest BMI weight for me…approx 9st (i’m now 17ish…)
Any advice on how to motivate?

I’ve been wanting to start working out to get in better shape, but no matter how hard I try I just can never get motivated to do it. I’ll always say I’ll start this afternoon, then push it to this evening, then tomorrow, then tomorrow again, then next week, etc. I just don’t know what to do to finally make me stop putting it off and get with it. Can anyone give me any suggestions?

I’m not fat.. but I’m not very “athletic” at all. I want to change that. I just can’t get motivated. I look at myself in the mirror and can’t really stand it. How can I get motivated to work out?

    P.S.
I keep giving myself excuses like “Oh, I’ll start tomorrow.” but tomorrow never comes.

    P.P.S.
I don’t really want to go to the gym (even though I have a membership) because I don’t want to embarrass myself in front of all the “buff” guys.

    Help??

Ok so I’m 18 and I have a few extra pounds. I would love to start working out and getting healthy. My problem is my procrastination and fatigue gets the best of me so I end up skipping out on workout day with my friends. I also have a fear of being stared at. I have size 40G breasts and I feel as though they would be the target everyone looks at. They also prevent me from doing anything as they are really heavy and sensitive. I am getting a breast reduction soon but I would like to start my workout now. Is there a way to fight procrastination and fatigue and a way to fight my breast problem?
