How to Motivate and Bring Out the Best in Other people

Whether you’re a small staff, an organization, a company or a family, you will need a great deal of motivation to get things done and achieve a degree of success. But motivation can be a tricky thing whilst it’s not complicated, it definitely is not something that many people have automatic knowing for. So has the job of getting others thrilled and inspired decreased into your hands? Here tend to be tips on how to motivate people and bring out the best in them: Find the current level of motivation of the person you intend to motivate. Each person, whether or not he is an employee, a co-worker, a team fellow member or a family member, offers some amount of inspiration in him. Try to spot this level. What ensures they are tick? What do they find exciting, interesting or even worthwhile? What are their goals? How do they hope to accomplish them? Do not try in order to approach the challenge inside a generic way since you will be met using a lack of enthusiasm as well as resistance. Use a personalized approach if you want to motivate a person. With a group, look for a frequent denominator a common goal or interest that you can use to motivate them and acquire them to perform. See issues from their point of view. It’s easy to explain things according to what you perceive. But how about what others see, think or sense? Each time you produce an idea or concept to the person you want to motivate, ask them for their opinions and pay attention to what they have to say. You are able to use information extracted from them in order to create the motivational plan which includes the strongest appeal to them. Use positive reinforcement. Among pleasure and soreness, people will always select pleasure. Try to steer away from using negative inspirational tactics such as concern or threats. These perform initially but they are not so effective for motivating people over a long term. In addition to, using negative reinforcements might result to a feeling of annoyance, anger or perhaps exasperation. If not corrected early, this could even lead to aggression and rebel. Use rewards instead. To motivate people, give recognition, acknowledgment, gratitude, actually gifts or info. People want to know that you observe their hard work. Didn’t you say you expected the best? Once someone has gone up to that level of excellence, give them the recognition they deserve. You’ll be surprised from how effective this technique is in keeping folks motivated. Show, don’t tell. If you want to know how to effectively motivate folks, show them through illustration. What sort of behavior do you expect from them? Why not show them by doing it yourself? They will be more ready to believe than in the event you just lecture and never show. Don’t press. It is said that you can’t lead a horse to water. When you are trying to motivate individuals check to see if their particular willingness is still there. There is a point in every effort when you begin to meet together with resistance. This could happen for several reasons, including dullness, distraction, discovery regarding other more interesting issues or just simply insufficient interest. It could also be that your motivational efforts have reached a plateau. Take place, learn to let upward, step back and if required, let go. People will be more motivated if they don’t sense pressured. If you feeling a resistance, stop and check for recognizable factors that are halting you. Once you have discovered them, design another approach.

I recently lost 50+ pounds by eating healthy, drinking only water, and jogging 5 times per week. I have gained back 20 pounds of the weight I lost and not very motivated to continue to eat healthy or workout as often. I am afraid I will return to my old weight. Please help. Thanks!

Or in other words, how does one mentally prepare themselves to do something in the future that they are afraid to now? Especially if now’s as good a time as ever. Sorry for the vagueness. 😛

I am aware that a meeting on a daily basis will most likely to bore the staff, however it is necessary to bring up problems which came up during the day’s operation. I am appreciate to hear your opinions or suggestions on how to manage this. Thank you a million in advance!

It’s so hard to find motivation in all that I do right now, especially school.
I just got back from vacation, and it reminds me of how much I miss my home country – it’s so hard to live here and having to adapt to the culture and people.
My mom also misses our home country, and she’s never happy here. I guess her depression makes me a little upset too.

But I need to find the motivation to do well in school. How do I keep myself motivated? Are there positive thoughts I can keep in mind or just anything that I can do?

I want to use my talent to help others, I was blessed with an ability to draw, paint and I can use photoshop. What I lack is knowledge of how this can help other people find the light and love of the God-verse. Any suggestions from the past or ones for the future greatly appreciacted.

So I’ve got 2 pieces of homework to do for next week, but I’ve tried sitting down and starting it so many times but I just can’t bring myself to actually write anything down. I revised for 5 hours straight the other day and have done a French essay but I have maths and science homework too and I just can’t make myself do it. Is there any way that could make me more motivated to actually finish it?

I have been a writer for as long as I can remember and it can’t be helped getting writer’s block every now and then. I love writing and I was hoping to get back on it as soon as possible because it makes me happy. Then again, I don’t have that much motivation or goal to write any more. It wasn’t as easy before when the reason I wrote was because I don’t know really, I guess I was in the mood at the right time? But really, are there any tips that you could suggest to keep me moving again? I miss writing and I hope I could get back to this quickly. I know the usual, “be inspired/find inspiration” quotes and the like but, are there any others? You’re feedback will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I am such an irregular gym-goer and I don’t have enough exercise. What can keep me motivated? What should I tell myself? What inspires you to keep on going to the gym?

Democrat or Republican, does it really matter that someone is taking the time out of their day to encourage kids to stay in school and try to learn the most they can? Can anyone else agree that its stupid that politics are brought into this?
He isn’t telling the kids to serve them and perhaps if they will stay in school when times are tough, perhaps we’ll have a better outcome for our tumbling economy in the future.

I just can’t bring myself to do it. Sure, I can drag myself away from the computer, but I just keep staring at the pages and can’t bring myself to write or plan it.
By the way. I’m at University. I’m paying to be here and am very passionate about my course, just I’ve been ill lately so haven’t been able to start it until now. I got the deadline extended until tomorrow but I feel so drained.

Hi, I am an international student and I am planning to apply for being a MUN chair. I am struggling with the motivation letter now, so can you please tell me the essential things that must be in the letter, and some ‘fancy’ sentences that makes the letter look professional?

I have been in MUN for past three years, and participated in several conferences.

Thank you so much for your time.

Hey everyone I have been cheifing marijuana since about 9th grade I am 21 now. I feel like I don’t know what direction I wanna go in life.

My main question is does marijuana kill motivation? Also I feel stupid as if I can barley comprehend and grasp things in life.
If I quit will my motivation restore?

Achievement motivation can be measured by the Thematic Apperception Test. Is this a good measure, if so, why? If not, why not? Does achievement motivation exist in our society today; has it always existed?

Feeling depressed. Me and my boyfriend ha a rough break in november, and ever since we got back together in december we’ve both been emotional eating. We have sort of indulged each other, anyways he put on about 10 pounds, and i about 4, anyways, i would love him if he gained 100 pounds but the fact is that he’s not happy. I can tell the extra wieght makes him unhappy. I try to keep us eating healthy but he always wants chinese food or nachos…

He used to be super healthy and i feel like i got him into bad habits b/c i always wanted to go out to eat every once in a while, now its like we’ve switched positions.

Anyways i was on a health kick and lost 6 pounds but i have since gained half back and stopped going to the gym..i feel like shit and i cant get motivated to go to the gym.

I get s stressed and insecure, im 5’9 and weigh 153…so im not FAT but i dont have a rock hard stomach i have some fat on my stomach and thighs. I get so insecure when i look at girls with a skinny flat stomach.

I am so mad at my self for loosing my motivation, i was going to the gym 6x a week and eating so healthy, now its like i’m a lazy slob. Im by no means lazy but u kno wat i mean. My boyfriend has been tryna eat healthy and we both keep promising this is the week were gonna be healthy, then one of us falls off the ladder. Its like we bring each other down instead of motivate each other…

I dno what to do from here. R we doomed to be unhelthy forever?

What can I use as motivation?!? Just motivation to be a better person in general. Or motivation to stop being depressed or get over people. I just need some motivation. :/

Hi, this is survey number 2. As a scientist, it is crucial that you conduct more than 1 experiment. So which of the of the following motivates you, if at all, in life.

    Nothing
    Love
    Making a difference
    Achieving goals
    Other people
    God
Other- if so please say what. Thanks so much!!!

If there’s something I really don’t want to give up on, how do I get the motivation back when I think “I can’t do this”, “it’s taking too long for me to learn this, I’ll never reach my goals”

I try to think of the reasons why I really want to reach my goals. But sometimes that does not help. And should I push myself, or not?

We are doing this new type of learning in chemistry, where we, the studetns, read over the teacher’s notes and have to break into groups to teach our classmates. We can be creative and run with this, (this is a high-school chemistry class). Problem is, I doubt the people in my class are going to be motivated at all to do anything nor pay attention. Any ideas on creative activities I could do. I thought of bringing in candy as a reward. (The teacher does not want us to make word-searches) Any ideas on activities?

But on the other hand our next door but one neighbour has 2 little dogs (yorkie and kings charles) and she loves them to bits, she runs round with them and plays with them. my mum has tried some techniques off Victoria (Its me or the dog) but none of them seem to work that good.. Any ideas?

(If your wondering, yes i did just ask a question on why isnt my dog eating because shes just a weird dog lol :S)

Ok guys, i keep losing motivation and i have no idea why! Its not like im trying to lose weight or trying to change anything physically. Its just, whenever i wake up for college/highschool, i lose complete motivation! I have no idea why! Im not sure if its the fact i have to comute, or i just cba to go! I keep telling myself to get the fuck out of bed and go, but when it comes down to it, i just stay there and go back to sleep. My parents leave for work around 7:45am so their not around to kick me out of bed for when i need to go. After i dont go to college, i feel guilty for missing out on lessons which i SHOULD be going too. It fustrates me!

If anyone can help motivate me or know any tactics of getting around this, please say so!
I want to achieve in life and i know that there is only one way to do so, and thats to get an education!
so please dont lecture me about that!

    Hey, thanks for stopping by.

I’m a college student (last semester!) with 21 credits next semester, so eating right has been awful. I’m getting married in six months and I feel horrible about myself. I don’t weight a whole lot but it’s the INCHES that’s the problem. When I have free time, I just lay down and read or watch TV when I’m sleepy after class.

I need to stay motivated to work out in my free time and diet the way that I want to! The long-deration aerobics 3-5x a week is hard to keep up with before spot toning but I know that I can do it with a little push. I want to look perfect for my wedding day. Any tips?

    Serious answers only please.
