How To Market Oneself with an Online College Degree

The desire regarding distance education has caused a good outpouring of new online universities all over the internet. Some of these universities are legitimate and go through the accreditation procedure. Other schools are merely fronts for degree mills and lackluster education. Occasionally, organisations and other schools look at online only colleges differently than classes on the web taken from reputable universities. So how do you know that school gives you the best edge in life The few suggestions here can help you market yourself and your degree to future employers and academic institutions.

Online only schools do not have any brick and mortar school in which they operate. They could have a small business office in a strip local mall or business center. They may have very little employees even though they offer several courses and degrees. However, just because there is no fancy building to go to does not mean the school can’t provide you with a sound training. When researching on the internet only schools, make sure that they are accredited by way of a regional accreditation organization. Check to see if they have received any recognized honours for online schooling.

Click on the ‘contact us’ button online and make sure there is an email address contact information, phone numbers and enterprise address. Avoid virtually any online school with only a 1-800 number or perhaps email address. After you have carried out some research, apply and commence enrolling. There are on the internet only schools offering degrees in business, mindsets and liberal disciplines.

So why do employers look at online schools differently than regular universities Distance education is being appreciated by the academic world with open arms and a big grin. To those no longer furthering their education, distance education looks too easy to obtain and not like a actual college degree. Big adjustments always take time to adjust to and become accepted. As a result, when employers observe resumes with online just schools listed since the diploma granting organization, they are unsure about the quality of schooling you received. Exactly the same may be true for several academic institutions that consider online education second-rate to classroom training.

When interviewing, ensure you mention if your diploma does not contain any kind of life experience credit. Life experience credits are not as appreciated by schools or perhaps employers because they can’t be validated. If your degree does contain existence experience credits, have the ability to communicate effectively exactly why the degree granting organization felt your life encounter was worth university credits. Let them know about relevant projects a person worked on, associations or even clubs you started or even supervised and any some other aspect of your schooling that highlights the strengths.

Overall, an individual market yourself to the prospective school or employer with enthusiasm and confidence. Do not let anyone make you feel an online degree is actually inferior to a typically earned degree. Even if you run into a few people new to online education, use it as an opportunity to demonstrate to them how well on the web degrees prepare college students for the future. The key to be able to marketing yourself is showing them how skilled you are and how geared up your college degree has made you.

My home is Southern CA and that i was searching at Fullerton College legal assistant studies. For that AS Degree requires 27 models. For that Legal assistant Studies Certificate it takes an AS, AA, or perhaps a greater degree. And So I am speculating they aren’t speaking concerning the vocational certificate. What’s the difference betweeen the three? Basically perform the vocational certificate wouldn’t it produce a high probability to find employment?

I am looking for an accredited school to start working on my bachelor’s in business with a specialization in management. I have heard of a few, but I don’t want to pick a school that is looked down on or is non-accredited. I also need a school that is completely online because I don’t have time to go to class, even for tests. If anyone has any helpful information it would be much appreciated.

I want a 4 year degree in Psychology. I am worried about doing online courses because I would hate to not get a job because the employer picked an in classroom degree person.
Does anyone have any statistics or info to back this up? Is it true that online degrees are not looked at as highly as a in classroom?

I want to study business after i graduate from high school next year, but i’m busy and can’t really attend and possibly afford a “real” college, so i’m planning on working most of the time to be able to pay for my online college, though I’ve been looking for good virtual business colleges and i found Ashworth College, it seems that it’s not legit, even though it sounded really great on their website, after doing some research i’ve found a lot of negativity about them, so i would like to browse through more options. i mostly want to take my 2-year/associates degree, so if there’s a legit online business college that provides what i ask for then please give me a list of any good ones you know !
I need a college that the credits are recognize and do count as legit business college credits, so please help !

Ohio offers an online school called ECOT (electronic classroom of tomorrow), where you get your diploma by going to an actual graduating ceremony, instead of them just getting you a GED. and i’m not looking to go to Harvard or anything, haha, but i was just wondering if state schools looked down on it as opposed to just going to a local school.

I am about to graduate from Axia College of the University of Phoenix with an AA in business. I am going to continue to get my BA, but I am concerned with having the UoP name behind me. I want a better school name on my resume. I have been searching for a school that has distance learning programs offered exclusively online, but the only ones that seem to do that, for business, are no-name schools. Is my only option to continue with a school that I am not so proud of? Granted a degree from a no-name school is better than no degree at all, but I want to make the most out of this. Can anyone suggest an undergrad business school or a web link that has a list of ranked online business schools? I have done countless searches for this with no meaningful results.
    I have a 3.79 GPA with UoP.

I need online because I am employed full time. I live in Jacksonville, FL and I am not happy with the local choices.

    Hi everyone!

So, I have almost completed my undergraduate degree and I am considering a degree in law. When I am done my undergrad, I will complete my masters in my field. I was doing some browsing online at a couple of the law schools here in Toronto and after looking at the tuition, i’m honestly thinking twice.

I am not basing my decision on what anyone on yahoo says, but it would be helpful if you guys have some first or second hand knowledge you would not mind sharing.

If not law, I am going to pursue a career in academia as a professor.

I know both fields are competitive, but I have a clear vision of the life I want to live, and what I feel is a good plan to get there. I know things don’t always go as planned, but it helps to have some guidelines.

    Advice please!

    Thanks 🙂

My friend recently applied for a very interesting-looking distance-learning, Master’s program at Prescott College. In fact, it’s so interesting, that I am thinking of applying, too. A few people, however, have told me that online degrees are “worthless” and that employers “laugh at them.” I am sure my friend has done an amount of research that she is comfortable with, and she has always been successful in her field, but for myself, I am worried.

Can you tell me anything about the value of online degrees? I am talking about one where there would be actual coursework, not something fake.

Are there any distance education options available for completing the last two years of an engineering degree? It would be much better for me because of my work schedule, and would help me as a non-traditional student to not have to deal with the agendas and attitudes of the faculty, staff, and students at the local engineering college. If this is possible, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
    What about Internet learning?
I ask because when I was going before, I did not learn a thing. I want an engineering education without having to deal with the people that caused me to regress to an almost uneducated status. I want to be inspired. I want to feel that I am valuable to the world. I want to feel respected. I am not sure how to get that.

The previous college I attended offered online classes, but the final exams and other major tests were “proctored”, meaning I would have to physically go to the college to take the test. Well, due to my recent divorce, and life throwing a few curve balls at me, I decided to try my hand at being an over the road truck driver. Its not the most glamorous job out there, but I can potentially make anywhere from $800 to $1,000 a week in my first year driving. I am expecting to be home weekends only. I really want to continue and finish my education. I’m planning on purchasing a laptop computer and having wireless internet on it. So, does anyone know any reputable colleges that offers online courses, that I won’t be required to physically go to the college to take the tests ?

i like the idea that i’ll be able to pace through the work myself, but would i just do all the work in a text book?
will the DECV ever give me set work i’ll have to do?

I’m considering going back to my original university but only in the capacity of a distance-education student as it’s over an hour and a half away from where I live now.

They have a full online degree program in the area that I want. I think I know the answer to my question but I’m still trying to find some clarity on the difference between the two degrees, if there is even one.

I know if you get an online degree from a totally online school there may be a difference but if you go to a traditional 4 year university and do an online degree program there is it considered a BA-in-whatever and not, say, an online-BA-in-whatever? (hope that makes sense!)
