Particularly if that university is famous for providing online degrees, is that a disadvantage?
I’ve been thinking like, people would recall that oh he graduated from that university, he must’ve earned it online.

Or is it considered an advantage being a pioneer in online education as well as offering degrees by the conventional method?

With many universities they offer the option to attend their physical university or to do the program online. However, with most employers there is a lot of stigma attached to an online degree. My question is – On your resume do you HAVE to put that i was an online program? Let’s say you attended the University of Massachusetts Online, can you just list it as University of Massachusetts?

I wanted to do the University of Phoenix(the campus), but I saw a lot of complaints about them. They are not a lot of choices I can choose from where I live, so online degrees is best for me.

I was just going through questions the other day and I happen to run across someone who answered a question about how an online degree was pretty much worthless in the job world… Is that true? Is it valued any less than a typical degree with this day and ages technology to do online classes? Are there any catches I should know about with online classes I am forgetting?

Why do people bother to get online degrees when everyone knows that they aren’t even equivalent to a degree that is obtained from an actual college?

Personally, if I were an employer I would take a person who went to an actual college than an online one.

I’m already pursuing a degree from an urban university in USA, but I was thinking of getting an online degree from an accredited college also at a cheaper rate.
I have little to no idea about such degrees. I’m really confused on a lot of grounds like :

    1. How will we give the exams ?
    2. Any chances of financial aid for International Students in USA ?
    3. After completing the coursework, how will we receive the degree ?
    4. Can we complete it in very short time like 2 years (Bachelor’s) ?
    5. Can we complete online degrees while already studying on F-1 Visa ?

I’m considering online colleges like Baker’s (MI) or Unv.of Phoenix.

A few details, which I felt I should add :

    1. How exactly is Baker College ?
I’m asking this cause it’s the cheapest & has my area of interest i.e. Computer SCIENCE.

    2. Do International students really get scholarships for online degrees ?

    3. I have seen that each course is 6 weeks long, so can I opt for multiple courses at the same time, which together will run for 6 weeks straight ?

How can you really learn effectively from taking classes on the internet? These for-profit schools like University of Phoenix and Grand Canyon University are taking the seriousness out of degrees. I know that they don’t even require you to take the GRE’s to get into their grad programs…. I feel like online degrees are taking the guts out of what was once believed to be achieved through hard work and personal collaboration. Why do you think most of these schools do not offer science degrees like Engineering, Physics or Chemistry?
RobWolf, I’m just curious, what type of business do you own and what type of students (degrees) do you employ?

Im looking into a degree from PennFoster the degree is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association and requires two 9 week practicums. Penn Foster is also fully accredited. While this all sounds good to me and looks good on papers how will this look to future employers?? The woman at the front desk at my vets office got a degree in business management online, and got a job but theres a difference between answering a phone and giving a shot ( no disrespect intended). Have any of you gotten/ not gotten hired, hired or not hired due to an online degree??

I am recently divorced and am now a single parent. I need to start making a decent living so I am looking for an online degree that would be quick for me to complete. The degree would also need to be something practical. I am also open to suggestions on online schools also. 🙂
