The way to Perform Goal Setting Routines

Goal setting activities established the stage for success. Lots of people have the belief that thinking about what they’d like to accomplish comprises the full gamut of goal setting activities. While it’s certainly an important part of setting goals, it is far from enough, especially if you want to actually realize your goal.

When you embark on goal setting activities, you will sort out your own priorities and manage your thoughts. There is an fine art to setting goals. One reason some individuals fail to realize their goals is that they set their goals improperly. Every time you set a target for yourself, you ought to follow certain goal setting techniques activities.

First, your ultimate goal statements should be worded and formed correctly. The best guideline with regard to wording goal assertions is the time-tested SMART goal. SMART stands for certain, measurable, attainable, reasonable, and time-bound. If your aim statement meets all these criteria, you’ve set up a good foundation.

Following, you should divide your goal into manageable actions. For example, if you want to shed 50 pounds, you will get discouraged very quickly. Fifty pounds is a lot of pounds, and although it will be attainable for many, it can cause many to quit after a couple of weeks because the scale might tell you that you have only lost 5 weight so far. Break that down into sub-goals. Fifty pounds over 12 months isn’t unrealistic, but setting small goals on the way will help keep you on course. Set a goal to lose 5 pounds the first month, 3 pounds the next 30 days, and so on. By attaining these milestones, you give yourself a psychological edge and keep your momentum going until you attain your final destination.

Over the same lines, you have to keep motivated so that you can reach your goals. In our 50 pounds example, when you reach your first milestone regarding 5 pounds lost, it’s going to motivate you to keep heading. It will send you the content that you are capable of achieving that goal, of course, if you stick to it, nothing will stop you. Reward yourself when you reach your sub-goals. Retain dangling that well known carrot in front of you throughout the entire journey, and you’ll be right now there before you know it!

    I am currently a junior in high school and just finished my first SAT this morning.
    My GPA is 3.7, I attended to basketball team for 4 years and going to be the captain for the upcoming season.
    I got elected as the next student body president, and attend to community services outside of school.
    I go to outdoor trips often, and my school gives this certificate called “Outdoor Leadership Certificate” to those who attend to a lot of outdoor activities and has a leadership which apparently looks really on your resume. I took 2 AP courses this year, AP Physics and AP Japanese, and planning to take AP Art and AP Music for my senior year.
    You see, I have a fairly good GPA and a good resume. However, I don’t think I scored a good score today in SAT. Literature is one of my weakest subject, but I really need scholarship to go to college that I want to go. I am planning to take my second SAT in October, and I will study very hard, but I don’t think I can get an outstanding score.

    My parents have good income, but I have 2 other siblings, so I cannot receive a financial aid but cannot pay full tuiton.

    Is it still possible for me to receive a scholarship? Probably it depends on which college I want to go to, but in general, can I?

    I currently wiegh 143 and my goal is 116. That is 27lbs. I would like to do it in 5 weeks. That is 5.4 pounds a week. Do you think it is possible? Any weight loss tips/advice?

    My goal is to increase endurance and strength.
    2 questions:
    1)If I did for example, the pushup exercise and I do it alot everyday, will I get better endurance results than waiting for 48 hours before doing it again?
    2) If it is better to wait 48 hours before doing the same bodyweight exercise again, then what if I did strength exercises instead of endurance exercises the next day (But the strength exercise works the exact same muscles as the bodyweight exercise)?

    I’ve always been goal driven. I’m a doctor of medicine. 51 years old.

    I feel like I’ve accomplished just about everything and right now I have no goals, and feel kind of lost.

    For awhile I created goals like skiing and mountain biking, but my recent skiing accident and the fact that I’ve been losing interest in these activities put a “damper” on my life.

    What happens to people like me as they get older? Do I have to continue to set goals? I get depressed if there are no goals for me to attain.

    I am a pre-service secondary teacher leading group therapy for a small class in an alternative school setting once a week. These students are in middle school and high school, as old as age 20. They enjoy activities in which they can move around the room or outside when possible. They particularly need guidance in team-work, goal-setting, health-awareness, and displaying characteristics of a good citizen or family member. Ideally, I would like to encourage my students to create a realistic plan for post-secondary life, either higher education or career training. However, they are not accustomed to having deep, respectful group discussions. Can you give me some ideas to assist these students or point out some online resources to use as I lead their group therapy sessions?

    I’m 5’4 and weigh around 150. My goal is to weigh 110, so I need to lose 30 pounds. How can I do this before October 29th? How many calories do you think I should eat daily and how much should I work out to lose the weight by then? (I have to lose around 5 pounds a week)

    Okay so I’m 16 and I weigh 160. I want to know what is the exercise that I can do the tones my stomach the quickest( but not running) like crunches or something like that. I also want to loose my thigh weight so what exercise targets mostly thigh fat. I want to be toned though no extra flappy skin. My goal is to be at 125ish by summer or just be able to look right in a bikini because I never have been that size. I know that is a lot of pounds to loose in a short amount of time but I’m also going to work out on my qui and xbox360. Lease help me and give me good ideas I would really appreciate it. I’m tired of struggling for clothes. Please and thank you!! I’m desperate!
    Oh and if it help to know my height I’m 5 feet and 4 1/2 inches.

    I have done many hours of google research for my Yahoo Groups goal-setting and humility-humor. I have never found anything about goal-setting and humor. Goal-setting seems to be regarded as an overly serious activity which I find discourages me from goal-setting, especially for career goals.

    [A group of us will actually being do this at a centre for Autism services of Alberta]

    But even one, or LOTS of ideas are welcomed!

    [I will obvs be doing more research on the assignment, but I was hoping t come up with some original and unique activities or maybe something on here would spark another idea, etc.]

    – Our group will have 6 activities going on simultaneously for a period of four hours.

    Activities are children at the developmental level of between 3 and 12 years of age.

    1) We have to MAKE the activity ourself…for example: one year they put together cardboard boxes and made an obstacle course,
    – You must create and build your activity– you cannot purchase a game or toy at the store

    2) A balance of activities: gross motor, fine motor, quiet, cooperative, loud.

    3) Avoid activities that have a lot of rule following or that require the children to produce a lot of language.

    Rules:
    No food
    No tiny objects
    No sharp edges (no scissors for crafts)
    no batteries or electricity
    no water play

    I am 5’2 and pretty over weight about 180 lbs. I work out 3 times a week at the gym and watch what I eat but I’m not getting any results. Been at it for about 2 months now. I think I’m not burning enough calories. Please help.

    So, for honesty’s sake- I’m going to tell you all my stats…
    I am a 15 (four months to 16) year old girl
    I am five feet, four and a half inches tall
    I weigh about 182.5 pounds at the moment
    and I am wondering if it is a realistic goal for me to lose 57 pounds (So that I weigh 125 pounds) in 14 months? If it isn’t, what would be?

    im the spirit officer for the dance team and im running out of ideas and activities for us to do.. it can be a craft or even a little game that has a meaning behind it..we have 22 people on the team so i need stuff you can do in big groups..everyones pretty new to each other so we’re still getting to know one another so plz any games activites and arts and crafts will help..

    I need things I can do at home without equipment. I’m looking to lose weight, but the thing is when I do workouts that help me do that I become fatigued & out of breath fairly quickly. I need workouts/activities that can help me manage this better so if I wanted I could go for a jog & not have pain in my chest right up the road. I’m not very active, I guess you could call me a typical teenager, but I’m really looking to change that. Any ideas on what I could do?

    Im 14 soon 15 and 5’9. Im 164 pounds and i want to lose some weight so every morning i run for 45 minutes, lift weights for 30 minutes and shoot hoops for an hour. I now eat 2100 calories a day. I want to get to to 150 – 155 pounds. Is this a good way to achieve my goal? If so how long will it take? If not what should i do differently?

    Are these reasonable goals to obtain

    Current Weight 220 lbs
    Jan 23 – 215 lbs
    Feb 14 – 200 lbs
    June 10 – 160 lbs
    Sept 1 – 140 lbs

    I know that it is hard to obtain each goal weight by a desired day, but after being overweight for a long time, i need to do something. Each of these dates has a significance for me personally.

    Please, no “quit eating” or “get off your lard a s s and workout”. I exercise 5 times a week on cardio and 3 times a week on weights. I eat an average of 1250 cals a day and no more than 20 grams of fat. I also have 2 children to raise, a husband to take care of, and a house to run…plus babysitting after school and at a church.     I’m going to be a freshman this fall, and I already have some college related goals set for myself. I know colleges look at extra curricular activities as well as your grades, but my school doesn’t offer many after school programs I’d be able to take.
    I take piano lessons now, do they count? What about part time jobs? I’ve been trying to get one but it’s hard since I’m only 14.

    Even though it is still summer, I would love to have helpful tips in staying on task and organized this upcoming school year. I will be a Junior and I am on the swim team, I’m going to have 7 periods, and I will be taking AP English. With all of these classes and activities, I need to stay organized throughout the year. How can I prepare myself now, so I will not be stressed later? And I would love to get a 4.0 this year. Thank you so much for you time. 🙂

This year I am taking AP Humanities(English& social studies), Biology, Alegebra 2, Spanish 3, Speech Comm., and Art.     In about a week, i will be student teaching for my high school student council. i was assigned for gym(7-8 grade). however i find that the only activities i know dodgeball, matball, volleyball and basketball, are the ones they do everyday. i want to give them an opprutunity to do something new!! i just cant think of anything. suggestions? thanks!

    I am interested in teaching Goal-setting to high school kids, following the outline of:
    1) Write down your top 100 goals
    2) Pick the ten most important ones and re-write them daily
    3) Break each of those goals down into tasks with deadlines
    4) Track your progress and take a step towards each goal every day

    What do you all think? I believe if we could get kids to do this before they complete high school, we could see some amazing results.
    They have done studies with college kids, and discovered that of 17% who had goals, only 3% had them written down. Of the 17%, the ones who had not written them down earned 3 times what everyone else did, and the ones who had written them down earned 10 times the average.

    What are your thoughts on this?

    My life has become stagnate and I feel I’ve lost a little of myself. I’ve spent so many years helping others that I’m not sure what I want out of life any longer. What are some ways I can figure this out, questions to ask myself that may help, any legitimate goal-setting websites that may help?

    For my english class I have to write an essay about my current/future goals that are mostly educational based and I need a little bit of help…
    We have to write four paragraphs:
    1)Goals for your current grade (9th)
    2)Goals for pre-graduation (goals to prepare you to graduate highschool)
    3)Goals for post-graduation (goals for after you graduate highschool)
    4)Future career goals

    I don’t need any help with paragraph 4, but I do need help on the others, I am almost done must my paragraphs aren’t quite long enough, so I need a few more goals
    I am NOT asking for you to write an essay for me, I’m just asking you to list a couple goals that I could write about because I am at a loss.

    4.Write your action plan for achieving your goal. Be sure to include specific steps you will take, when and how often steps the steps are to be done, and how you will measure the progress toward your goal.
