    I struggle with a positive reward system and self motivation. Do you have any tips on how you keep yourself motivated to keep up with your responsibilities such as; school work, a job, relationships, exercising, and eating right? I just cannot seem to motivate myself to be consistent so I am able to reach my goals. Any stories of learning how to motivate yourself or tips will be appreciated!

    What do you call those carer values such as self-motivation, hardworking, focus, persistent, intelligent, respect, justice, toughness, etc. I know it’s not called as work ethics, defined as the values based on hardworking and deligence. I’m looking for a term combine intelligence, work ethics, and personality. not sure if there is one or not. Thanks.

    Many Western religions criticize suicide: God says no, you’re being selfish to your loved ones, cowards way out, and so on.

    The act of suicide takes a large amount of self-motivation to pull off. It is a very difficult thing to do. I’m not saying suicide is a good thing. But why demonize the person who tries to do it? Chances are good they had a reason. No one kills themsleves if they’re happy with their lives.

    I’m not saying encourage it. But why attack the one who tries to commit it as though they are an evil person?
    I honestly can’t see how it’s short-sighted. Lots of old homeless guys out there, after all.

    I don’t want to use any of those self-motivation programs like Rosetta Stone. I am still in high school and I don’t have any more time to learn a foreign language there. And there are not any foreign language schools nearby with costs I can afford. What do I do?

    I was wondering how can I get rid of some fat off my stomach and thighs. I take dance and that has helped some but for some reason I didn’t lose the fat it just turned into a little muscle, which makes my legs appear bigger. Also I have stopped drinking soda and more water. I was wondering how I can tone my stomach and get rid of some fat. I don’t go to the gym and sometimes lack self motivation. Thanks!

    this guy at BCT in Ft. Jackson, kept saying that i never had any problems in my life thats why i don’t believe in God. So i asked him, “You believed in God because you were desperate and mentally weak?”..he then got hesitant. He tried to make a scenario were i was in a bad situation and had nobody to talk to nor help me. He asked me who would i turn to. I told to him i would have confidence in myself and i’d would work hard to get out of the problem…because i have something called resiliency.

    and then on he started talking more craziness, He told me that: humans are not perfect thus you should not trust them, not even yourself, All science is fake (biology, evolution, Cells, Astronomy), All religion except his is fake, Everything man-made is stupid.
    Which is funny, because i told him that if everything man made is stupid, than he should give all his money to the poor. He told me no, because he needs it to live. i told him, according to you all you need is God and Jesus…plus humans can live off of fruit, vegetables and water…he than proceeded to look stupid.

    P.S.- i dont know if this is relevant or not, but the guy was from Alabama and was southern baptist.

    I’m really struggling with motivation..i am depressed but i don’t see how that should stop me from doing what i want.

    I lost my job about a month ago (it was m fault – I did something stupid and out of character) Anyway, I’ve been looking for a job since then, with no luck and my self-confidence has gone down.

    I just don’t have any motivation to even get out of bed in the morning, let alone get back into the workforce. But I have been looking for a job. I got offered a job starting tomorrow (which I accepted) But I’m not even sure I want it (I know it sounds bad when heaps of pple don’t have jobs). I’m just not sure why they want me to work there and am not confident I’ll do a good job / be happy working.

    I’d just prefer to do temp work until I feel more confident.

    Do you think I’m being silly and should just “get on with it” or should I just do temporary jobs til I’m more confident?

    Ok what I’m saying is I can either take the permanent job or I can take temporary jobs until I feel confident enough to have a permanent job. I was in my last job for 5 years and it really knocked my confidence losing the job (and the way in which I lost it)

    I guess it’s hard to give me an answer when you don’t really know the full circumstances but thanks for trying.

    i was doing really well at my diet and fittness reguime (lost 2.5 stone)but i’ve just started to lose a bit of my motivation. what can i do to get it back.
    an accumilation of things has knocked my whole schedule out of kelter ranging from a death in the family to getting a tattoo or 2 which meant i couldnt get going into my old work out schedule.
    i’ve been swiming in this pit of lethargey for too long and need a boost to get back to it.
    any ideas??

    A lot of the time, I will just sit around for hours on end on the couch when I get home and then I don’t start my homework until several hours later. I’m wondering if anyone knows some really good self motivation techiques.

    Beating up on myself seems to have worked okay so far… kind of… not really, but damn, wouldn’t I be just a bump on a log if I hadn’t been a little (okay, a lot) negative? I’m just not convinced patting myself on my back really does more than create mediocrity.
    While I appreciate the first two answers, does negative reinforcement actually work, at all? Does positive thinking improve results?

    Can positive reinforcement really work, or is it just BS giving everyone a ‘best-effort’ ribbon?

    they say that nothing is ugly in this world, except when you’re lazy fixing yourself..but sometimes i’m just too lazy esp. when i’m only at home..but then sometimes i get jealous on other girls because they’re so pretty, like my cousin…help me build my self-motivation on that!

    What’s the difference between these two? Seem to me, self-discipline is same as self control or sef conduct. Restric yourself to do or not do something. Self-motivation is like increse your intensity to accomplish some goals. Like force yourself hard to do something or follow the self-discipline orders.
