Come to find out there’s a huge difference in being a Vet Tech and a Vet’s Assistant. That a tech needs a degree and an assistant doesn’t need anything but certificates are offered. Top of the line vet techs make up to 45,000 now I don’t expect to go into it making that but vet techs make a lot more than assistants. I can’t find any schools other than Penn Foster that offers a degree now to clear up confusion I’m just wanting to get an associates. In no way do I want to be a Veterinarian. The only problem with Penn Foster is they don’t accept any financial aid/grants so it would have to be paid out of pocket. Please help me out, it must be online schools.

I’m in University but it’s getting a bit too difficult to attend due to medical issues. I’m going out of my mind because I want this so much but I’m missing so many lectures and just self-learning at home which I don’t think is going to get me through.. I’ve tried looking up online or distance-learning degrees and there doesn’t seem to be all that many for us here in Ireland but maybe I’m just not looking hard enough? Anyone know of any?

Would it be worth it for a middle-aged guy to earn a Bachelor’s degree? I’ve been thinking about it and have even applied to and been accepted by an online college. I’m going for Business – Management. What’s the potential for getting a job with that degree? How much would my age factor into it? I don’t want to be an elderly man with a degree, who has to work at Arby’s for the rest of his life to pay off his student loans. Nothing against Arby’s; I love them!
There aren’t a whole lot of big factories in my area. I work at the largest one, and I would have a really hard time staying there even with a better position. I know I should have gotten an education earlier in life, but I chose a path that didn’t turn out the way I had planned. Is it too late to turn things around?
    Helpful answers so far, everyone!

Roaring Mice: Like I said, I don’t know if I could stay at my current workplace. They’re the main reason I want an education. I absolutely despise half the management there. I got injured and they’re being complete jerks about it. I think I would rather have a fresh start. “Organization” isn’t exactly a name I would use to describe this place.

Jesmonster: I have the FAFSA all filled out and sent. Just waiting to hear back from them. And about the scholarship: hilarious! I have no problem becoming a left-handed, red-haired woman if that’s what it takes! I know someone who went to prison for selling drugs, earned a degree in prison, and has had two great jobs because of it. I guess that’s another option…

My husband works in sales for an industry that he needs to get out of. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have a college degree and is finding it hard to even get interviews without one, even though he’s held his jobs for long stretches of time and has always done well at them. You’d think years of work experience would offset the lack of a college degree, but I guess not. He’s looked into going back to school, but it’s expensive and will take 3 years!! Can anyone offer any advice on how you can best go about finding a new job when you don’t have a college degree?
Thanks for the answers, guys, bu he’s a 40 year-old professional who is interested in a lateral job move to a different field or company where he can make similar money to what he is making now. He’s not looking for temp work or internships.
