What Are Funds Gift Cards

Funds gift cards are a great gift idea for a person who may have specific criteria about what they like and what’s going to make them happy. Prepaid cards can be from a retailer or from a lender. These days, people will give bank gift cards that have a certain amount of money in it that the person may spend. This will make gift giving much easier. The cash gift cards can be placed in a envelope or in a very card and look more attractive as compared to cash. Bank gift cards can be used anyplace, while department store gift cards have to be utilized at the store where these folks were originally purchased. Several shopping malls have reward cards that can be used at any store inside the mall.

It is very an easy task to purchase a cash reward card. At the cash register, the total amount that a person asks for is entered into the computer and the gift card is actually swiped. This quantity will be programmed in to the card. Using the card is easy also. When a person buys some items, they will use the gift card since payment. This is a great idea for birthday celebrations, holidays, graduations, and weddings. Finding presents for a lot of can be difficult, but with any cash gift card, anyone can find gifts on their own.

If sending money gift cards through the mail to a friend or relative which lives far away, sending a cash present card is a nice idea. It shows that someone was willing to look for a store that a person would like shopping in so that they can find exactly what they are looking for. Cash gift cards look wonderful in a holiday selling or in a graduating envelope. These funds gift cards don’t need to be used right away both. If a person wants to hold back until they are ready to store, they can. The cards are often decorated and always look better than cash.

My friend’s grad party is Sunday and for her gift I got her this big pimp cup she’s been wanting for so long. But I don’t think that’s enough of a gift especially considering what I got some of our other friends as gift when they graduated last year (gift baskets, college starter kits). She said she has too many things for her room, and doesn’t want cash or gift cards. So any ideas of what else to get her?

I have a 17 and a 14 year old nephew and i don’t know what to get them for Christmas. They don’t need anymore video games and I’m not giving them cash or gift cards. I figure that their parents give them the more substantial gifts so anything else is just thoughtful and kind of fluff. I would appreciate any ideas. Please don’t send any rude or smart a@# answers. Thanks for your help.

First off I’m 16. I heard that you can just put money into these cards and use them. Is it like a credit card? I wanna buy stuff online but they said I need a credit card. Obviously my parents won’t let me get a credit card because i’m not 18. Where can I buy a mastercard prepaid debit card? How do I use one? And if you can put money into it, can i put more money into it when I run out? Is it easier to use than a credit card? Any information would be great. I’m not even sure what the difference is between a debit card and credit card. There’s this site where I wanna order stuff, but it says credit card. But can I use a debit card? Thanks!

At walmart I could just throw in a gift card with my groceries and pay the whole thing by credit card.

But at gas stations they will not let you pay for gift cards by credit card.
    Anyone have any guesses why?
I imagine it has to do with people stealing credit cards and making fake ID’s and visiting many gas stations and buying gift cards to sell on the streets. That is my only guess.
Thieves know to stay away from stores like walmart since they even have cameras out in their parking lots.
I really don’t know – any ideas why?

You can buy $150 worth of gas outside on a credit card without an ID, but try to buy a $25 gas gift card and you have to have cash. Explain please.

I tried to pay for a program online with an american express gift card.
Something happened and the transaction was unsuccessful so I never received the product, but it’s been 6 days and an $80 charge from them is still pending on the card.
American express’s website said it may take up to 7 days for this kind of thing to clear up. But what should I do if the money isn’t back on the card by tomorrow afternoon (at which point 7 days will have passed?).

I’ve tried contacting the company I tried to purchase from and they just keep telling me to email somebody who doesn’t return emails (I’ve send 4 emails by now. And they say they check their email 24/7? Bah!). So what should I do? Thanks.

I just received a bridal shower invite from a close family friend that states “cash and gift cards accepted”. That’s not even the worst part, they actually got married last year after she gave birth to their baby so this isn’t even a real wedding (I don’t even think it’s a church service so it’s not really a religious thing). To make matters even worse, at the baby shower last year, she never even sent thank you notes. She’s a college grad coming from a nice family, but isn’t this in the absolute poorest taste? Is it horrible that I don’t want to go?
by close family friend i mean she is someone whose shower i feel somewhat obligated to attend because of our ties not neccesarily someone i am close with. Honestly, i’m not in the best situation to give a good gift right now so regardless it would be something small… I guess I’m asking how inclined would you be to give any gift given her lack of etiquette in the whole situation?
Thanks for everyone’s great answers so far! Such great ideas! haha. just to touch on some things, I realize gifts are sort of expected at a shower but to say the “cash and gift cards accepted” I mean, of course they’re accepted, no need to point it out. And to me, it makes me feel like she’s just saying, “give me a fifty and I’ll buy the present because I’ll just return the one you pick out anyway.”
and at the baby shower, there were no games, prizes and favors. So many people thought it felt like a gift drop off because all we did was watch her open gifts…
Oh and by the way, their daughters first birthday is in between the shower and wedding and I will make sure to attend that with gift in hand! I’ll make sure to tell the little one as she gets older the importance of thank you cards! haha

I have no idea what to get them because I haven’t been to their house. I suppose a gift card shows a little thought, but it also creates an obligation on their part to use it or lose it. Maybe they would see it as something they could do that is fun. But with cash they could spend it anywhere they like. What do you think?

I asked a question about prepaid credit cards before, but I have another question. I’m 17 years old and I’m planning on going to the supermarket tomorrow and buying a prepaid credit card.

1.) On a couple of the cards that I’ve seen, it shows a range of possible values on the front. Do I just pay the intended amount to the cashier, or how does that work?

2.) I’ve watched a couple videos about prepaid credit cards and they always talk about ‘fees’ involved. But how do you pay these fees? I’m assuming the money comes out of the card itself?

3.) Do I have to do anything after I’ve purchased the card at the store? Like register the card online or something?

Please help me out by answering and I’m not interested in your personal opinion of prepaid credit credit cards. Thanks!

obvious answer is yes, but the real question is.. is it safe?

my friend once bought a “trial” for only 99c. a month later, she was charged 180$$ to her account, and after calling and calling to get her money back, they told her something about, not “returning it on time” so now u pay.

im wondering, if i buy one of those trials online, with this prepaid card, then no matter what, they wont be able to charge a million bucks no matter how hard they try?? right?

please help!, if you have experience, tell me, what do you use these for?

another example, i once signed up for one of those 1 cent auctions, and it was said in bold print “free to sign up” but as soon as i registered, i was chargers 60 bucks. so if i didn’t have 60 bucks on my prepaid debit card from 7/11, could they have done that??

I lost my bank account and I need to pay my bills, would you recommend a prepaid credit card or perhaps another way to avoid having too much cash on hand.
Debt collector has had my account frozen, but I still have to survive and my bank account will be out of commission for at least 1 month if not longer depending on overdraft fees

I’m trying to make an online purchase using a prepaid type of gift card or prepaid debit card. I wanted to know which ones are better and will be accepted at more places. I tried using the vanilla one prepaid gift card but it did not work at the place i was trying to make a purchase. I’ve heard that some online stores need your card to be related to your address otherwise they wont take it. I was thinking of getting green dot prepaid card because you need to register your address and information therefore it might be accepted at more places however this is really only a one time use so I would have to cancel it afterward to avoid monthly charges ect. What are some alternatives to vanilla one that will work at a lot of places online?

    Visa Prepaid

    MasterCard Prepaid

    Visa Buxx

    Amex Pass

Which is the most worth it for a teen? Which is easiest to reload? Which can be used at ATM’s? Also, can any of these be used in Europe? How Do All Of These Work? Thanks!
Also… What is the age limit for ALL of these cards? Thanks!

I’ve been on a quest to find the best prepaid debit card. I used to have one through Virgin Mobile that allowed you to pay a direct fee monthly and you could use the card as often as you liked.

However they stopped their program and I’m wanting to find something similar. I know there has to be some prepaid card out there with no activation fee or setup fee and with a low monthly fee to use the card.

I’ve tried out allot of the basics and nothing is what I want. Is there any other options? I don’t have the credit to get a standard checking account so any help would be needed.

I was thinking of getting a prepaid credit card to help build my credit because I have none. I do not want a normal credit card because I don’t want to overdraw and get myself in to trouble with owing money. Are there any company’s that have few to no charges cause from what I have researched many places charge for with drawing money depositing money activating the account and so on.

I was trying to think of the safest way to buy something from sites online, and I thought that a prepaid debit card (with a mastercard, visa, ect logo) would be a good way to go.

from what I understand, the prepaid cards are accepted at the same places as the regular credit card, and that they can’t be charged for more than what is loaded on them. therefore, I could pay the small fee to load just the amount of money I want to spend, and if the site turns out to be shady, they can’t get any more money than I loaded.

does that sound like a solid plan?

also, with these cards, can I dispute a charge like a credit card and be limited to $50 liability (like a credit card) if it is within 3 days (or 2 for debit cards)? this isn’t as big of a deal, since I don’t plan to spend much more than $50 anyway.
    reply to sooku:

well, if I just spend the money as I load it, there really shouldn’t be much risk. $5 is worth knowing that someone can’t just empty my bank account, or charge up my credit card.

My husband and I are looking to get prepaid credit cards in hopes of bettering our credit. The only ones I can find come with a lot of activation fee, annual..ect. What is the best prepaid credit card with no fees attached. I just want to put my money on it and use it.

I’ve looked up information about the Visa Prepaid Gift Card and it seems like it has a lot of hidden fees that many say are “not worth it”.
As far as i can tell, though, it seems like these fees apply to people who use it over a long period of time.

So.. what if I only wanted to use it once? Like a one-time purchase? Do all those fees still apply?
And i also found that the account closes after the balance reaches zero? Is that right?
So what if I have like 2 cents left on it? Do those fees still apply?

I just wanna be able to buy stuff online 🙁

Thanks in advance to anyone who answers!

some how i overdrafted my prepaid debit card on two different occasions… one time my balance said – $4.71 and when i put money back on the card it subtracted it from my account lol. My prepaid card has a bank account and routing number to it and i used it to verify my PayPal account so i’m thinking that might have something to do with it but the company (Mango Money) i use says that i would be declined if i didn’t have the money in the account when i read there webpage. I love the card and the company, they have never charged me for anything but the 5 dollar monthly payment if i didn’t put 500 bucks on it or more and that’s great but i just don’t see how it does that. I mostly use it on the internet and some things take a few days to go through but 99% of the stuff i buy anywhere goes through instantly so iv’e only had a few internet things that haven’t. Anyway i’m just looking for anyone that might have experienced the same thing maybe or knows anything about why it might happen. =D
To the guy whom posted first to my question…………..
first of all that is NOT the answer to my question and it is not even relivant… i didn’t ask for a PayPal opinion, i just ask how my prepaid cards went over. Also i don’t care if they can tell its a prepaid card and i know they don’t accept them but mine has a bank account and routing number that is backed by Inter National Bank so if they detect it which i doubt (its been on there for quite a while now) then ooh well, you can still link a prepaid card just not directly to the account to verify a bank account or add/withdraw funds directly from PayPal. So i’d appricate it if someone could answer my actual question. TYVM.

Can I use my prepaid visa card for that or is the vaule in 25,50,75,100. How will I deposit money into it? How much does a prepaid visa card cost? My situation is I’m going to sell something on Amazon and I need a Visa card to do it. My overall fee is like 25.(The money they take out of my account to sell something). I will put 25 dollar in my account and they give me the rest of the money in my account. It will be like 250 dollars. Is that possible?
